Sixty seconds after she wakes from a coma, Maggie's world is torn apart.

The police tell her that her daughter Elspeth is dead. That she drowned when the car Maggie had been driving plunged into the river. Maggie remembers nothing.

When Maggie begs to see her husband Sean, the police tell her that he has disappeared. He was last seen on the day of her daughter's funeral.

What really happened that day at the river?
Where is Maggie's husband?
And why can't she shake the suspicion that somewhere, somehow, her daughter is still alive?

A page-turner for fans of Clare Mackintosh's I Let You Go and Lisa Jewell's Watching You, this gripping story will draw you in and shock you at every turn.

From the reviews I thought this would be a gripping thriller and I had high hopes at first. However the story was so overworked everyone is proceeding on misinformation , secrets and lies. I guessed the”twist “ early on and found the denouement rather soap operish. The narrator was just OK.

Disappointed

Most confusing story how could she read letters that she hadn’t received. Well narrated the story line was good but confusing.

Very drawn out

One of the best books I have read in a long time. Slow beginning but gripping ending.

Unputdownable

My attention never waived as I eagerly followed the twists and turns of this human drama.
I particularly liked how towards the end the suspense was held and unraveled with a measured pace.
I believe that Nuala Ellwood is going to be an author’s name that will reach a large market and fan base.

I’ll not be alone in enjoying this - try it!

Needed cutting. Kept going of on tangent when you just wanted to get in with story. Juvenile letters went into overkill. Narrator only emphasised issues rather than making the best of it

Too long
