This 4th book in the series starts as Elizabeth and Wynn leave the Beaver creek community to travel further northwest to his new posting near Smoke lake. It proves to be far more challenging than their previous experiences. Life here is indeed primitive and Elizabeth also has to cope with being shunned by all of the Indians because they don’t trust a ‘pale face’.
A desperate natural disaster strips them all to the bare necessities to stay alive but with Wynn away Elizabeth has to find resources in the Lord to break through the barriers and make a new beginning.
Once again in this compelling story Janette Oke portrays the secret of their survival - trust in the Lord and His plan for their lives.
Beautifully narrated.

A new beginning in a desolate place

I am so enjoying this series of books, they are so interesting. They give insight into the Canadian land in times gone past. The job of the Mounties and their wives as they live with the native population. The place of their faith in their work and the joys, trials and sorrows they endured. I thoroughly recommend. Very easy listening.

Restfully beautiful
