About this listen

Violet's in her element - cosplay at the ready, she can't wait to feel part of her favourite fandom: The Gallow's Dance, a mega-story and movie franchise. But at Comic Con, a freak accident transports Violet and her friends into the The Gallows Dance for real - and in the first five minutes, they've caused the death of the heroine.

It's up to Violet to take her place and play out the plot the way it was written. But stories have a life of their own....

Held my interest from beginning to end. Although you should be prepaired to have the characters mention "the canon" every few minutes or so, and I mean every few minutes.
The story as a whole was good, girls get sucked into the world of their favourite book and have to find a way out. A few depictions of rape and sexual assault here and there which kind of put me off but those are few and far between.
Very romance focused in some places, very action focused in others, more so on the romance than the action I'd say though. Beginning is focused on romance where the middle to ending is very action heavy.
Very nice twist near the end which had me surprised,
Narrated very well by Katy Stobey though her voices for the characters lack any range in my oppinion. Although her voice for the character of Katy was very well done.

A friend recommended this to me after reading the book and I saw it was on Audible. I listen to audio books at work and sometimes I lose the thread or interest in the story but this one kept me hooked the whole time and I only needed to back track a few times when I lost concentration. Not my usual fayre although I have read the hunger games books so I had some grasp of this type of world. I suspect I'm a bit older than the target audience but I found the way the plot developed kept me increasingly interested the further in I got.

Really enjoyed this

I listed to this book while driving and honestly didn't want my journey to end. I would definitely recommend it to others.

I was enthralled

First heard of this book from a group of fanfiction writers - how appropriate!
more than a gripping tale - this book shows deep love and respect for fans and the concept of fandom. The deeper I delved into this book, the more I wanted to read the work the fandom is based on. The author managed to convincingly create a whole new fandom from scratch, convince me that it's intriguing and complex, all the while telling the story of how a bunch of fans are working frantically to repair it.
Loved it, can't wait for the sequel!

very entertaining!
