Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Die Trying is the second book in Lee Child’s internationally popular Jack Reacher series, read by Jeff Harding.

Jack Reacher, alone, strolling nowhere.

A Chicago street in bright sunshine. A young woman, struggling on crutches. Reacher offers her a steadying arm.

And turns to see a handgun aimed at his stomach.

Chained in a dark van racing across America, Reacher doesn't know why they've been kidnapped. The woman claims to be FBI. She's certainly tough enough. But at their remote destination, will raw courage be enough to overcome the hopeless odds?

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be listened to in any order, Die Trying is the second in the series.

A Guilty Pleasure

I've listened to the first two Jack Reacher books now and I'll probably start the third before too long.

I'm really enjoying Lee Child's plot lines and the way he manages to throw in a few twists and turns. Sadly, that's about the only positive I have to say about the first two books. His characters are very one dimensional, even Reacher. His female characters are pretty terrible in fact.

You can tell some research has taken place but not enough - especially with regard to military skills.

All that said, there's something that keeps me opening the app and playing the book. A bit like a trashy soap opera.

Another great read

Terrific read, the story races along keeping one listening, wanting to know how it is to be resolved. As an audio book, very hard to stop listening to.

he said, she said

exactly what you should be expecting from such a book - fast paced action with lengthy descritions of military equipment

some editing would have helped in certain sections of dialogue - adding 'he said' or 'she said' after every aphoristic remark gets tiring, and is unneccessary when a different voice is used for each character

the narrator doesn't do a bad job, but manages to make the cheesy text even cheesier

Wow... Just wow, socks blown off!

I think the title of this review, if you can call it that says it all. I love Jack Reacher, I'm forever grateful for Lee Child's creation, everyone needs to read the Jack Reacher series, watch the show to get a physical representation of what Jack Reacher looks like if it helps, but you need Jack Reacher in your life. Die Trying is a phenomenal book i was hooked from the beginning and could not stop, you feel the moments like your right there cheering or, in my case, name calling... Read the book to know what i mean.

Jack Reacher: Die Trying

Big fan of the series, liked the book and the concept of the story! The reader was also good, not the biggest fan when he did the girls voices but it was fine. Felt like you needed to concentrate a little when listening otherwise you kinda loose yourself
