To be honest, I didn't know what to expect.
First things first. The narration was exceptional, couldn't fault it in one way.
Story was so different it gripped me from the beginning to the end in a good way like when your first read the boy in the striped pyjamas.

I was hooked from chapter 1. The story was simple and narration brilliant. I can't say I've been a gang insider, but I know how a young boy could be easily caught up in this mess. That is why my verdict is Not Guilty.

Exallent book, the author had me hooked in the first chapter. I heard Imran on radio two on the book of the week, the story does not disappointed. It has pace and gives you a glimpse into the lives of gangs in the inersities.

A supercharged, compelling and humdinger of a crime thriller read.

A unique and stunning unusually written book which is focused on a young man, charged and tried for murder, who, against all advice, sacks his Barrister so as to offer his own closing speech.

A no-holes barred story which he believes gives doubt to all evidence presented against him. A story of a life of an inner city boy facing adversity on every level. Surrounded by gangs, knives, guns, drugs and scant hope.

A life that most, including a Jury, could never possibly conceive.

The clever part is that you, the reader, are a member of the Jury.

Is he guilty or not? It's entirely up to you ....

This book was meant for audio reading .. I do not mean that literally, but the impact of the clipped, precise narration from the Clerk of the Court against the formidable narration of a street-talking inner city Londoner is powerful stuff.

It's a class act debut novel and richly deserved its place at the top of the charts.
