An exquisite story of love, murder, adventure and dark secrets, Rachel Rhys brings this dangerous crossing brilliantly and beautifully alive
An utter treat . . . a glorious mix of proper old-school glamour and a labyrinthine plot full of class war, politics and sexual tension . . . Rhys writes with such conviction . . . a masterful storyteller.
Quite extraordinary . . . Beautiful, captivating and I desperately did not want the journey to end.
Completely compelling and atmostpheric. I absolutely loved it.
A sumptuous and thrilling read which reminded me of Daphne du Maurier. It captivates you in its spell right until the end. I loved it.
Utterly gripping . . . I loved Lily and the sumptuous detail of her onboard world with its constant undercurrent of tension and mystery. It's a brilliant evocation of the time
This a proper old fashioned tale of glamour, murder and mayhem on the high seas. The most enjoyable bout of cabin fever I've ever had . . . The pages turn themselves.

Thrilling, seductive, utterly absorbing.

What a world of glamour, uncertainty and intrigue! I was immersed from the very first page. And the sense of time and place is so convincing, the voice so perfect, I felt as if I had made the crossing myself. It is a gem of a book

If you could sum up A Dangerous Crossing in three words, what would they be?

Enthralling, breathtaking, realistic

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Dangerous Crossing?

Witnessing people's prejudices.

Have you listened to any of Katherine Manners’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I haven't but I will do now.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I felt I was there with the passengers and could feel the emotion as the story unfolded depending on the character we were focussing on.

Any additional comments?

It's one of the best books I've ever listened to. I loved hearing the different accents of the passengers and being able to identify with them all. I could envisage being on the ship and on shore. It was such a wonderful book, well written and well narrated and I highly recommend it.

Enthralling story telling at its best

Narration was not to my taste, I found it very monotonous.
Story was fine, think would have enjoyed it more if I'd read this one.

I bought this book because it was on audible's daily deal and was a change to my usual listen.
The characters are well developed and the plot cleverly woven. The ending is also something of a treat. Heartily recommend.

Very well written, very well read
