Summary

By the international number one best-selling author of Tell No One and Fool Me Once, soon to be a major movie starring Julia Roberts.

The boy who had been missing for 10 years was right in front of him....

A decade ago kidnappers grabbed two boys from wealthy families and demanded ransom, then went silent. No trace of the boys ever surfaced.

For 10 years their families have been left with nothing but painful memories and a quiet desperation for the day that has finally miraculously arrived: Myron Bolitar and his friend, Win, believe they have located one of the boys, now a teenager. Where has he been for 10 years, and what does he know about the day, more than half a life ago, when he was taken? And most critically: what can he tell Myron and Win about the fate of his missing friend?

Drawing on his singular talent, Harlan Coben delivers an explosive and deeply moving thriller about friendship, family and the meaning of home.

Good read/listen

Good plot which kept you guessing. That good that I've got other titles by Harlan Webber. Well read too.

Fantastic!!

I love Harlan Cobens books and this one came up trumps! The story didn’t end up where I expected it too, which is always a bonus. I couldn’t stop listening!

A bit too much padding

A good story and very good performance but a bit too much padding in the middle makes some sections boring. Feels as though the author is trying to reach a certain word count or is just too obsessed by sport.

from gripping to mediocre

After quite a few terrible audiobooks I was gripped from the start with this book, thinking finally I was onto a great story but sadly this book just bounced from great to boring. At times I was so engrossed in the characters and the story line then the next chapter read like it wasn't even part of the book. Just portions of unnecessary chatter about nothing of interest that felt unconnected to the story. Pity as the story had the potential to be a great read but sadly at times it felt like the author was bored and just filling up the pages with words of no interest.

Just Wow!

I have only just discovered this fabulous writer. I could not put this book down. I mean literally. I love the New Jersey feel it has, which I find hard to articulate. (There's a pun there if you read the book). I love the references to Bruce Springsteen songs.
If you like thrillers, mysteries, crime and fast moving stories, this is for you. The narrator was fabulous, the ending, even if you guess it, will move you to tears. Got to go now I have another Harlan Coben story to read.

Coben keeps you

I loved this book. Coben is a magnificent writer and has you on the edge of your seat. The story is not typical and with enough twists and turns to keep you engaged, and characters that leap off the page. From the sharp no nonsense Whynn (not sure if I've spelt it right) to the fragile Patrick. They are all positively memorable. Read beautifully by Steven Webber, even his female voices are great! Good but not awesome

Any additional comments?

Really liked the narration on this one, which is what kept me going. The story was intriguing, and the characters were engaging. There were a few red herrings in the book, though, which I thought were superfluous to the plot.

a gripping thriller

I loved the grittiness and the character Win. The references to Sherlock and Watson makes us think of Myron and Win. The quirkiness and bizarre characters makes this a good read.
