About this listen

Nina does not have a drinking problem. She likes a drink, sure. But what 17-year-old doesn't?

Nina's mum isn't so sure. But she's busy with her new husband and five-year-old Katie. Nina's almost an adult, after all. And if Nina sometimes wakes up with little memory of what happened the night before, then her friends are all too happy to fill in the blanks.

Nina's drunken exploits are the stuff of college legend. But then one dark Sunday morning, even her friends can't help piece together Saturday night. All Nina feels is a deep sense of shame, that something very bad has happened to her....

A dark, funny, sometimes shocking coming-of-age novel from one of the UK's leading comedians. Nina Is Not OK will appeal to fans of Caitlin Moran and Lena Dunham.

loved the story, although simple it was put together really well. I really enjoyed the narration, it was as if it really was Nina telling us her story in her words. made it really relatable and a joy to listen to. really sad I have finished this book.

laughed, cried, loved

a brilliant breath of fresh air. Sadly ringing home, the story is beautiful and ruthless and told with superb authenticity by Shappi.
it's not an easy subject but I'd say it's essential reading.

I normally go for thrillers or crime novels but something about this book caught my attention. the story is very believable and the characters well formed and moves at a pace that fits the storyline

I listened to the whole thing over 3 days I couldn't wait to find out what happened. it doesn't pull any punches or shy away from difficult parts of the plot. it tackles sensitive issues head on which is refreshing

not my usual genre but well written

At times, a difficult story to read, but written so sensitively, with such significance. Absolutely loved it, everyone should read it.
