About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Following the major motion picture release starring Chloë Grace Moretz, the heart-stopping finale to the bestselling 5th Wave series.

We're here, then we're gone, and that was true before they came. That's always been true. The Others didn't invent death; they just perfected it. Gave death a face to put back in our face, because they knew that was the only way to crush us. It won't end on any continent or ocean, no mountain or plain, jungle or desert. It will end where it began, where it had been from the beginning, on the battlefield of the last beating human heart.

Critic reviews

Wildly entertaining... I couldn't turn the pages fast enough
A modern sci-fi masterpiece... should do for aliens what Twilight did for vampires.
Nothing short of amazing
An epic sci-fi adventure about a terrifying alien invasion. You'll read it in one sitting
Remarkable, not-to-be-missed-under-any-circumstances
A gripping SF trilogy about an Earth decimated by an alien invasion... the question of what it means to be human is at the forefront
This is DAMN and WOW territory. Quite simply, one of the best books I've read in years (Melissa Marr, New York Times bestselling author.)
This book is scary!
A fantastic read. The 5th Wave is an electrifying page-turner (Kathy Reichs, New York Times bestselling author)
Yancey's heartfelt, violent, paranoid epic, filled with big heroics and bigger surprises, is part War of the Worlds, part Starship Troopers, part Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and part The Stand . . . a sure thing for reviewers and readers alike.

I enjoyed the series but did not see the end coming which I found hard to come to terms with. A very good story with a bitter sweet ending.

Didn't see the end coming

Well I looked forward to reading this the final chapter but wish I hadn’t. Totally depressing and sad! 😕

Again, I really enjoyed the story told from different character's points of view. I'm sad that I won't get to see this played out on the big screen by the original actors of the movie in 2016.

Really enjoyed this series of books.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. This is a great trilogy. If you love big epic storylines that suck you in, red these books.

What did you like best about this story?

Plus:I love the idea of this storyline, it’s a bit left field for this genre. It’s not your typical aliens have landed and the last few humans have to save the world type and I like that. Book 3 had a few shocks in store, there was more than one ‘oh no, seriously nooooo’ moment in there and the fact that it’s kids having to make these huge decisions and sacrifices and go through so much so young...well Yancey knows how to make you think for sure, there are times I wanted to scream at Ben for being an idiot and then I remember he’s a kid!Minuses:I read these books back to back so while overall I really loved this trilogy, reading them back to back there are times when Yanceys repetitive language bugged me a bit, he’s a real fan of contradictive speeches that can, on occasion, go on a bit, especially for Cassie. ‘It is and is not, it will be and won’t be’ type stuff. But, don’t let it put you off reading it, the story overall really is great and worth a little repetitiveness.

Which character – as performed by Ben Yannette and Phoebe Strole – was your favourite?

In book 1, it was a coin toss between Ben/Zombie and Cassie In book 2, it was EvanIn book 3 it’s hands down Ringer

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Great trilogy!

This book seemed to move a lot faster than the other. It focused on the characters more, less on cassie this time. I enjoyed the book but I felt there should be more to it. I feel it should have another book or have it wrapped up a bit more. Maybe the author is leaving it open so he can write another book if he wants to. I was pleased with the outcome though and I recommend you listen to this one to finish the story, the last one was left on such a big cliffhanger.

Good ending, needed more though
