May, 1937, and London prepares to crown a new king. At the height of the Coronation celebrations, Detective Chief Inspector Archie Penrose is called to the BBC to investigate the murder of a famous broadcaster, a death which Josephine Tey suspects is linked to a decade-old scandal. With Archie's hands tied by politics, it is left to Josephine to get to the truth. Soon she is forced to confront at first-hand the deadly consequences of love, deceit and betrayal.©2015 Nicola Upson (P)2015 W.F. Howes Ltd Crime Fiction Historical Mystery Fiction Crime

Wow!! By far the best book in the series so far!! I did skip the last book as Archie and the crimes are the best bits and I didn’t fancy a whole book that could be filled with the Josephine/Marta saga!!

But this book was an absolute joy! The narration was as ALWAYS amazing and the book was Nicola Upson at her best!!! writing crime fiction and never straying from the plot!

Bravo!!

Absolutely fantastic!!

It’s hard to talk about the development of characters in this series without giving spoilers but this book centres on the death of a BBC presenter and even some of Josephine’s friends are noticing what a selfish pain in the arse she is. I have so many questions for the author of this series!

Series continues strongly

Back on track with a story that gives an insight to the early days of the Beeb as well as a nice twisty plot. Excellent performance

So much better than the last
