About this listen

Olav lives the lonely life of a fixer. When you ‘fix’ people for a living, terminally, it’s hard to get close to anyone. Now he’s finally met the woman of his dreams.

But there are two problems. She’s his boss’ wife. And Olav’s just been hired to kill her. From the best-selling author of BAFTA-nominated Headhunters comes Jo Nesbo’s Blood on Snow.

What would have made Blood on Snow better?

I did not like the narrator and think that the book is overpriced. A very dark story which is what Nesbo is good at.

Expensive for such a short book

While I enjoyed the story I really struggled with the narrator. I always feel that Seán Barrett has the voice for Jo Nesbo’s prose and this narrator really didn’t do it for me.

Enjoyed the story

Feeling disappointed - love Jo Nesbo, but, too short & narrator was not at all suitable, quite annoying in fact. Bring back Sean Barrett! Am now reading the book & enjoying it much more than the audio version.

Poor choice of narrator!

A beautifully wrought morality tale by a writer hitting his stride.

When a reader finds a new way of experiencing life through a novel, it is a testament to the writer's gifts. It's as if every element within a genre has been inverted, exposed and re-formed so nothing remains predictable or reductive. Probably the word ' literary' is convenient. Although first person narratives have become de rigeur, this narrator is not an unreliable one so the exposure of his vulnerability is complete..even if his morality is questionable. We are convinced. We are moved to empathy. The weaving of the events are like music..or poetry as others have said. This is a book for adults. Listen.

Maybe the performance of the actor involved needs reconsideration. Although the reason for the choice is evident, nonetheless, it adds an element to the truth telling in the story that could be considered as muddying the..snow.
