About this listen

What if you could defuse tension and create accord in even the most volatile situations - just by changing the way you spoke? Over the past 35 years, Marshall Rosenberg has done just that, peacefully resolving conflicts in families, schools, businesses, and governments in 30 countries all over the world. On Nonviolent Communication, this renowned peacemaker presents his complete system for speaking our deepest truths, addressing our unrecognized needs and emotions, and honoring those same concerns in others. With this adaptation of the best-selling book of the same title, Marshall Rosenberg teaches in his own words:

  • Observations, feelings, needs, and requests - how to apply the four-step process of Nonviolent Communication to every dialogue we engage in
  • Overcoming the blocks to compassion - and opening to our natural desire to enrich the lives of those around us
  • How to use empathy to safely confront anger, fear, and other powerful emotions

Here is a definitive audio training workshop on Marshall Rosenberg's proven methods for "resolving the unresolvable" through Nonviolent Communication.

Powerful teachings I have been told about by many friends. Good to learn from the source.

Recommended to me, and now I will recommend

This has taught me to see myself and others in a way that brings about greater peace. If everyone knew the ideas in this book we would no longer experience violence and war in the same way as we do now.

profoundly life changing and inspiring

Some genuinely useful strategies for communicating and healing. At times I could imagine the style winding some people up, but that can easily be adapted.
Beautifully narrated by the author, though a bit hard to hear at times.

Sincere and helpful

I liked it more as soon as I saw the results when I applied it on my way of communicating with others. It has helped me with my friends, family and my relationship, where I was able to control my temper and address to them in a more appropriate way to obtain my needs from them and also understand what they need from me. Great book, great man, good job!

Learned a lot

I will say that in some of Mitchell’s retelling of stories i was like “um, yeah ok, they totally said that”, but other than that the book is excellent. It makes you analyse how you communicate with others, and identify better and clearer ways of communicating. My main take aways were observation vs evaluation: the belief that our own perspective is the only one possible; confusing prediction with certainty, and failure to be specific. I often feel misunderstood when trying to communicate, and previously put it down to a lack of expressive vocabulary, but I realised that I regularly fail to clarify what I’m really asking and what needs I’m wanting met. I also worry about what others think and noted I was viewing my own predictions and assumptions as facts, rather than clarifying whether I was meeting others expectations. This book helps grow my understanding and confidence in how to better communicate with others.

Very Eye Opening to Effective Communication

I find the content very inspiring. it shows a totally different way of communicating to the one I grew up with. To quote a leader who had worked with Marshall: "if we knew how to communicate like this we would not need to kill each other"

Restores my faith in humanity

It would be easier to live in this world if this was taught at schools. So obvious lessons but so hard to understand yourself.

I wish this book was taught me at school
