From the mind of the storyteller who has captured the imagination of readers from around the world and across generations comes this classic work of science fiction.

First prize in the Skyway Soap slogan contest was an all-expenses-paid trip to the moon. The consolation prize was an authentic space suit, and when scientifically minded high school senior Kip Russell won it, he knew for certain he would use it one day to make a sojourn of his own to the stars. But "one day" comes sooner than he thinks when he tries the suit on in his backyard—and finds himself worlds away, a prisoner aboard a space pirate's ship. The whole thing seems like a bad dream until he discovers he's not the only prisoner on board. Kip—along with the daughter of a world-renowned scientist and a beautiful creature from another planet—has been kidnapped by a monstrous extraterrestrial, and they are heading straight for what could be Kip's final destination.

A fun story and child friendly. This kept me amused on a very long commute.

A fun story

Very enjoyable story. I like the characters. It had been on my list to read again for 40 years and was just as good as I remembered!

Great story

Robert Heinlein is one of the classic science fiction writers but this story has dated very poorly. Not only that, there are issues that are blindingly obvious, such as a space suit that works in space but allows frostbite on a planet...
As an adventure story it's OK but it's not one of his best. It's a strange mix of mid 20th century America with a moon colony a reality. The science is very jumbled & in places seemingly very poorly thought out, particularly when compared to other authors of the period. Granted it was written for younger readers but for me this makes the errors worse.

(Very) dated classic

not one of Heinlein's best. The story started ok then had serious tendency to waffle about arithmetical facts and figures, droning on until I got bored and skipped to get back to the point of the story. I wanted entertaining not a maths lesson.

Disappointing story
