About this listen

Ex-SAS trooper Nick Stone is extremely highly trained. Clever, ruthless and very effective, it is no surprise that he is hired by British Intelligence. On deniable operations - one of the most dangerous lines of work. Sarah Greenwood is beautiful, intelligent and cunning - and the only woman Stone has ever truly opened up to.

But now he has been ordered to hunt her down. Hotly pursued through the American wilderness, Stone finds himself at the centre of a deadly game of cat and mouse. He must get to the heart of a terrifying conspiracy theory to which only Sarah holds the key. But will he manage to before the tension reaches boiling point?

I'm ex to a degree. its not just the soldiering, his trench deadpan humour I enjoy.
He is a first class story teller.
Keep it going Andy, very enjoyable and excellent distraction from the madness.

Crisis Four 2nd in the Nick Stone missions.

I am now in love with the narrator. He brings the character of Nick Stone, to life. In my head, I now have this clear image of Nick, his height, his build, his hair, eye colour, the way he speaks and the way he conducts himself. I listened to this book, most of the time, whilst relaxing getting ready to go to sleep. I listen to one chapter an evening with my eyes closed, and I can see the story unfold in front of me. I must admit I did think the lad from the embassy was involved, and maybe he was, but that ending, I knew she had to be involved somewhere along the line, because of what happened in the Syria gig and her changing the script, but she reeled Nick in again, and played on his emotions, as is part of the job. Heartless, Cold, calculating, manipulative, and she gave no f**ks whatsoever. She got her just desserts, but glad Nick came out alive. I just hope down the line Josh can find it in himself to forgive Nick and believe in him when he says he didn't have a clue about Sarah and her hidden agenda. Great storyline, and I so enjoyed listening to it being read.

I'm new to Andy McNab's work, and enjoyed this story. There's plenty of reviews below, my main gripe here is with the narrator. I cannot understand how people can say how good he is. Maybe they like listening to a choppy staccato delivery.
He keeps putting little. Pauses. At inexplicable points in. The sentence. It makes it rather difficult to get the meaning at. Times.

Good story, poor performance

Having read many McNab books further along the line first, it's interesting to come back to the beginning and now cover Nick Stone from the start. There are important characters and pieces of information that continue throughout Andy's novels and a sadness to read the early books, only to know how things pan out later in the future stories. His writing is closer to Bravo Two Zero but develops as time goes on. Sometimes it feels like there is a little of the ending missing, they sometimes could do with a little more information at the end. It's almost like that's always the way anyway, you never get all the answers you're hoping for - however, in a fictional novel, you can and should.
Great read/listen and good performance from the reader. Another McNab book recommended.

Great Read/Listen - The Story Continues

Struggled with this, no idea why it's an alright story, some parts the descriptions feel like, they are put in to pad the book out, when pointless and no great baring on the story.

Totally unsure
