The latest atmospheric thirties mystery featuring bestselling crime author Josephine Tey.

When Josephine Tey inherits a remote Suffolk cottage from her godmother, it comes full of secrets. There’s the infamous Red Barn murders, committed in the grounds a century before, and there’s Lucy Kyte, the mysterious beneficiary of her godmother's will. Josephine knows that there is something dark that has a hold on this small community. Is it the sinister ghosts of the Red Barn murders, or is there something very much alive that she needs to beware of?

The Death of Lucy Kyte is both an intriguing insight into the dilemmas of Tey's personal life and a disturbing story of obsession, abuse and deceit.©2013 Nicola Upson (P)2013 W.F. Howes Ltd

Fascinating twist on a well known story. However the local accent was not from Suffolk.

Where was the Suffolk accent?

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Bit of laugh and cry with this one but always left feeling complete. Not cheated at the end of a book as you can be with some other books

As always I loved the author's writing style and the wonderful narration of Sandra Duncan. But this story was rather more about the misery of a character's life than the unravelling of a murder mystery. I personally found it had a more lowering effect on my spirits!

Dwells rather more on a miserable life

The actor reading this book was outstanding. She brought the characters to life in such a brilliant way. The whole story was beautifully conceived, brilliantly researched and riveting throughout.

The gripping story

This is my first Upson book and I listened to some of the historic passages again and again as there are proper jewels in expression and setting. Great story too.

Brilliant language and storytelling
