Sequestered in the blackness of the dreaded Tower of High Sorcery in Palanthas, surrounded by nameless creatures of evil, Raistlin Majere weaves a plan to conquer the darkness - to bring it under his control.

Crysania, a beautiful and devoted cleric of Paladine, tries to use her faith to lead Raistlin from the darkness. She is blind to his shadowed designs, and he draws her slowly into his neatly woven trap.

Made aware of Raistlin’s plan, a distraught Caramon travels back in time to the doomed city of Istar in the days before the Cataclysm. There, together with the ever-present kender Tasslehoff, Caramon will make his stand to save Raistlin’s soul.

Or so he believes.

The story continues the tale of the Dragonlance Chronicles. Concentrating on the Majere brothers Raistlin and Cameron.

It's a more dark, involved story involving the magic users, priesthood and time travelling.

Sadly the narration is not great at all. It is read in quite a flat tone, with little change in emphasis, particularly with the speech. There is no effort to use different accents or tones with each character, and it is sometimes difficult to tell who is talking.

Within the first ten minutes one of the lead characters is called RAYstlin in one sentence, and RASStlin in the next, and the narrator never makes up his mind whether to use Tass or Tazz when referring to the kender. It feels like there wasn't much effort to read through the book much in advance to know when a change of pace or critical events which could do with a stronger voice or different emphasis to match the text. There are several times that sentences seem to run into each other, even when it is two different characters talking. This is quite jarring and really does break the immersion.

Classic fantasy tale let down by poor narration.

Would you listen to Time of the Twins again? Why?

Yes - I am a fan of the serires

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I listened to this after completing the Chronicles series narrated by Paul Boehmer. Paul’s narration was far far superior, with each character having an individual voice. Ax Norman’s character portrayal is almost monotone in comparison. Also, the pronunciation of names I find annoying. Sometimes the pronunciation of a name changes three of four times from the appearance of a character before Ax settles into something comfortable. ‘Tasselhoff’ comes out fine, Tass comes out like ‘Toss’ most of the time.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If only we had the time to listen end to end...

Slightly Disappointed

Others seem to have a problem with the narration, calling in monotone, but it's nothing of the sort. It's softly spoken, quiet and full of wonder akin to a parent reading a bedtime story to his children. The characters aren't given exaggerated voices, but for me that's a plus as it lets me work my own imagination. It seems many people these days lack that capacity.
The story is amazing, and sucks you in. Hugely recommend this trilogy!

Cosy Bedtime Narration

Still as good as I remember

The story is really good like all the. Weiss and Hickman books, but what a terrible reader! Completely spoils the book. No difference in the different personalities, every one is read in the same monotenous voice at the same quite fast speed. I am sorry I wasted my money on this, more so,as I already bought the other two books ( with my credits) in this series.. I am better off just reading them . Really annoyed. Please don't let this man read anymore books,it is not fair on us readers wasting our one a month credits
