The Count of Monte Cristo is an adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas.

Published in 1844, it is often considered one of the great thrillers of all time and, along with The Three Musketeers, Dumas' most popular work.

Falsely accused of treason, the young sailor Edmund Dantes is arrested on his wedding day and imprisoned in the island fortress of the Chateau d'If. After staging a dramatic escape, he sets out to discover the treasure of Monte Cristo and catch up with his enemies.

Alexandre Dumas (1802 - 1870) was a French writer, best known for his numerous historical novels of high adventure, which have made him one of the most widely read French authors in the world.

This is really a must. A 50 hour epic Brilliantly told by Andrew Timothy.

Lost one star for the poor recording quality. Even for the poor quality of the sound recording, I would still choose this version though as he does a fabulous job.

Couldn't turn it off. Finished it in 10 days. It's that good.

The book is a classic and the performance is wonderful. however the structure of the audiobook does not follow the structure of the novel which makes it a little difficult to navigate if you happen to have become displaced in the book.

Great book, awkward audiobook structure

I wanted a LOOONNG book and at 50 hours this fitted my needs.
The narrator is okay but worth updating. would be even better with someone like Stephen Fry adding more personality to the voices.
Glad I listened to this, I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging the story was.

surprisingly gripping
