About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

'There are always regrets in life, among them things we've done that we wish we could take back and erase. I have significant ones that will haunt me forever and which I hope I have been brave enough to confront in this book' Jane Fonda in the preface to My Life So Far.

Now in her 60s, Fonda looks back over her life but also forward to the future. With unflinching honesty she addresses, amongst other things, her tragic and tortured relationships with her mother and father; her lovers and husbands, from Roger Vadim to Ted Turner; her passions and political views. The result is rare in its readability and sheer page-turning force. This is a powerful account of an extraordinary woman.

Critic reviews

An incredible woman...and this is certainly an incredible book, given how open and honest the very private Fonda is being (Lisa Milton, BCA)
Such candiness...you're left with something less frequently inspired by a Hollywood star autobiography - respect

She didn't just live through changing times, she embodied
them

Jane Fonda fearlessly lays bear the many, frequently criticised facets of her more than full life with panache and honesty...A moving portrait of an extraordinary life, from vulnerable childhood to wise womanhood
Endearingly earnest, honestly intelligent

Jane Fonda reads her own story to us and takes the veil off celebrity and patriarchy. It is high time we allow women and girls the right to be fully themselves and this is a great roadmap. Thank you so much! 💓

Ms Fonda's book really resonated in parts and made me question in others. An interesting read, stripping away the celebrity and getting an in-depth view into a mature insight into the world we think we live in, as well as the world we actually inhabit; in all facets - physical, emotional, psychological.

Lovely Authentic Biography

It’s hard for me to articulate what a pleasure it’s been to be inside the perspective of a person brimming with so much talent and empathy. The world feels like a dark place right now and hearing such honest no-frills accounts of things that are so painful is difficult but also incredibly uplifting. It’s always beneficial for the human spirit to spend time around so much courage in the face of adversity. It was beautiful. 10/10 would recommend.

A remarkable person

What a fascinating life story and told so brilliantly by the author herself. Jane’s voice is captivating - she never falters, stutters or pauses- and her use of language is exquisite.

I had always suspected that the poignancy of the father/daughter relationship in ‘on Golden Pond’ was a reflection of her own relationship with her father, but to hear it explained in such an honest way, brought tears to my eyes. Her description (and mimicking) of the wondrous Katherine Hepburn is so revealing.

Jane possesses a rich self-awareness which is breathtaking - she invites you into her soul.

I was so sorry when this book finished. A must-listen- to if ever there was one,

What a woman!
