About this listen

A BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation starring Michael Hordern as Jeeves and Richard Briers as Wooster. Steeple Bumphleigh is the sort of picturesque place where you can't throw a brick without hitting a honeysuckled cottage or beaning an apple-cheeked villager. But for Bertie Wooster, it is a place to be avoided, containing not only the appalling Aunt Agatha but also her husband, the terrifying Lord Worplesdon. So when a certain amount of familial arm-twisting is applied, Bertie heads for the sticks in fear and trepidation despite the support of the irreplaceable Jeeves. Still, there are good deeds to be done, like extricating 'Stilton' Cheesewright from the clutches of Florence Craye, a girl from whom Bertie himself only escaped by the slimmest of cat's whiskers. But even Bertie is hideously unaware of the perils which lie in wait before the (accidentally) happiest of endings.© and (P)1998, 2006 BBC Audiobooks Ltd. Briers and Hordern will never be topped in my opinion. Laurie and Fry were pale imitations.
I've listened to this over and over again. It's perfection.

No one can beat the audio performance of Jeeves and Worcester as played by Richard Briers and Michael Horden. This is cosy listening and although not my favorite story of Wodehouse's I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Iconic Jeeves and Worcester .

Would you listen to Jeeves again? Why?

Absolutely.
The wonderfully witty dialogue is brought to life by actors who obviously share Wodehouse's love of the English language in telling a tale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Jeeves?

The interplay of the characters at the climax.

What about Michael Hordern and Richard Briers ’s performance did you like?

You couldn't play the parts better. Differently yes, but never better!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book is sometimes hilarious, often funny and always enjoyable.

Any additional comments?

Fantastic.

Perfectly cast audio drama
