About this listen

The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Sebastian Faulks's instalment in Ian Fleming's iconic Bond series, Devil May Care. Read by Jeremy Northam.

"My novel is meant to stand in the line of Fleming's own books, where the story is everything." said Faulks, "In his house in Jamaica, Ian Fleming used to write a thousand words in the morning, then go snorkelling, have a cocktail, lunch on the terrace, more diving, another thousand words in late afternoon, then more Martinis and glamorous women. In my house in London, I followed this routine exactly, apart from the cocktails, the lunch and the snorkelling."

Picking up from where Fleming left off in 1966 with The Living Daylights / Octopussy, Faulks has written the perfect continuation of the James Bond legacy. Devil May Care is set during the Cold War and features all the glamour, thrills and excitement that one would expect from any adventure involving Bond ... James Bond.

This unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition is read by Jeremy Northam.

I've never read a Bond book so was a bit dubious about this but have no regrets. It draws you in and it's easy to visualise the action and events. A real must listen!

Stephen Faulks attempts a James Bond novel in the Ian Fleming style. The result is a firly good plot, but rather too formulaic.

Nothing special

Excellent yarn that really captures the spirit of the earlier Bond stories. My imagination definitely had Connery (rather than Moore)in the starring role. The bad guy is a traditional 'bond baddie' which is reassuring and there are many clever references to scenes from earlier Bond stories for the Bond purists. This was my first Audible download and I really enjoyed it.

Sean Connery not Roger Moore

Total Fleming. Best continuation Bond by far. Jeremy Northam is so much better than Simon Vance at Bond narration. If Jeremy did the Gardner novels they might be semi listenable!
