About this listen

The tiny Caribbean island of St Honoré is a tropical paradise. But for Miss Marple, enjoying a well-earned rest from her busy life in the village of St. Mary Mead, it is a place where nothing ever seems to happen. Then old Major Palgrave tells her the strange story of a suspected double murderer. As rumours begin to circulate, the elderly sleuth is not alone in suspecting that things are not as they seem. And when a death that is indisputably murder occurs, Miss Marple finds an unlikey ally in the cantankerous crippled millionaire Mr Rafiel. Together, can the pair discover the truth? June Whitfield stars as Miss Marple with Windsor Davies as Major Palgrave in this BBC Radio 4 dramatisation from the world's best-known mystery writer. I have the full collection of EVERYTHING Agatha Christie - Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot & all the others. You cannot beat listening to a full cast Christie. Settle down in your fave comfy chair a nice drink & relax for over 2 riveting hours of fun & intrigue. All the Christie stories are perfect British crime thrillers. You will not be disappointed.

I am so enjoying listening to these dramatisations and June Whitfield is brilliant as Miss Marple. Having said that favourite is and was Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. Aside from that it is Agatha Christie at her finest and can easily listen to them again and again!

Another good one!

An interesting programme to compare to modern TV adaptations. One has to think in an old fashioned way, a good experience which I was glad to take.

Old but good

Fabulous dramatisation performed by an all star cast. I'm sure that the cast have as much enjoyment in performing these dramatisations as we do in listening. Just delightful and,as ever, sorry when it came to an end. However, these are so perfect that I will listen over again many times no doubt! Much recommended!
