Derek Jacobi gives a superb and spirited reading of these Sherlock Holmes stories, making the whole experience enjoyable. For me personally, I am not a particular SH fan. I find the stories far-fetched and too neatly tied up at the end. For example, the master spy who arranged the theft of Britain's top-secret plans just kept them in his trunk. Surely, you would have them in a secret and secure location and, by the way, Holmes just had to ask for a list of spies in the country to get the man's name and address - how is that a master spy?

The tales are well written and deliciously narrated but, as stories themselves, they are not actually that good!

An Excellent Reading of Sherlock Holmes tales
