Summary

Soon to be a film from Netflix and Oscar-winning director of The Hurt Locker Kathryn Bigelow.

When the lights go out no one is safe….

A planet without power.

When a solar storm hits the Earth, the lights go out across the planet. But this time the blackout won’t be over soon—it could last for years. Aubrey and her stepson now face the biggest challenge of their lives.

A society without rules.

Soon they hear rumours of riots, the struggle for food becomes real and even within their small communities, the rule of law is collapsing. Aubrey’s estranged brother Thom, a self-made billionaire who abandoned her years ago, retreats to a gilded desert bunker where he can ride out the crisis in perfect luxury.

A race to build a better world....

But the complicated history between the siblings is far from over, and what feels like the end of the world is just the beginning of a personal reckoning long overdue....

Very average

A great concept but underdeveloped. Nothing really worthy of note happens in this book. Characters are pretty flat too and narration is mediocre making it some times difficult to know who is speaking

great listen, awesome narration

I like the story, it's more about the people than the event itself. The characters are great and I love the humour. The narration is brilliant, great combination with the characters. Not as good as the previous book, but that was always going to be hard to beat in my mind. Still very good and worth a read

Not much is happening in this book

Narrator teenager voice was very annoying to the point I couldn’t stand the character. Overall not much happens in this book ,had potential to develop into an interesting story however it wasn’t delivered by the author.

Aurora shockingly bad.

This has to be one of the most boring books I've ever read.
if your expecting an apocalyptic tale as the intro suggests., with all the potentiol ups and downs that could bring..forget it...this is more a soap opera with almost no likable characters.
I felt I was reading my 13year olds creative writing essay at one.point...
Save your money.....Save your life from boredom...and save your time as it will never come back...
