Summary

The highly anticipated conclusion to Volume I.

Parker Stevens is not who he thought he was. He's Cassien Alaris, Prince of the Dark Court. He's stronger, faster...darker. And he embraces it. Even if accepting who he is means losing the one he loves. The Darkness is more tempting.

Luna Ainsworth has a responsibility to save her people. Her life was never her own. She knows who she is and what she must do. Her role comes with certain sacrifices. As Queen of the Elite Light Tylwyth Teg, she must defeat Darkness, even if it means losing a part of her.

In a realm of magic, prophecies, and generations of bad blood, maybe love is the only way to end the battle between Dark and Light. Or is love just in the way?

What a twist for the ending!!

What a crazy twist at the end! I hope there will be more to this series since the ending definitely leaves you wanting more!

As with the first book I'm not a huge fan of the narration style. I got used to it and I don't feel that it really interferes with the story.

What just Happened?

The series just took me on a wild ride and the free fall me in to crazy land. This story has so many twist and turns that by the end you don't know who is good and who is evil. All I know is that I want more. I wanted Cassion and Luna to find there way back to each other, but I started to get mad a Luna and and her being so naivete about Cassion and light and dark. Luna doesn't even realize that she is the reason he went dark. But the ending that ending is what shocked me the most. Look forward to the next part of the Ascension series.

That's one messed up ending...

Narrators again, did a great job with this book.
The story unfolds and picks up where Part 1 ended. There's a ton more surprises and twists.
The end is messed up. I don't know what to believe now.

OH MY GOD... I AM SPEECHLESS!!!

AudiobookObscession Reviewer: I am in shock! I have read and listened to tons of books and already at 60 for this year alone. This is thee best audiobook I have listened too! It’s moved up to my favorite. WOW! I don’t even know how to describe how much I loved these books! Everything is so unexpected, exciting, shocking, and kept me 100% on the edge of my seat the entire time!!! I was not expecting things to go the way they did and I love that. I can’t wait for the next book! So freaking good. Yolanda Hatcher is a writing queen and Jason Carpenter is my new favorite narrator. His voice and performance made this book so much more ... everything!!! Highly recommend!

OMG WOW I don't want this series to stop!

Obviously this is part 2 so you need to listen to part 1 first for this to make any sense! I am not a big fantasy or paranormal fan but this series had me from the first 15 mins! The romance is wonderful even if in this part of the story there was considerably less of it as this part was more about the journey and the discoveries. The characters that Yolanda manages to write are incredible, it's like I can see them in my mind whilst listening and they come to life in a film. Yolanda has a way of writing that draws you in and keeps you hooked, this was fast and exciting and thrilling and heartbreaking, she writes a story world that you can actually feel apart of. The narration was particularly good in this part as we had different POVs throughout. I need the next one in this series quickly please, I really need Cassien to come back from the darkness!!!

Mind Blown

Cass has fully embraced darkness devastating everybody around him. It seems a lot of people are changing from dark to light or vice versa. Everybody is struggling to find a way to stand together and prepare for war. Cass is too angry to even try to cooperate. His mate chose another over him and because of it he embraces darkness more and more each day. Saying that the contents of this book didn't shock me would be a complete lie. I was taken for multiple rides. I won't get into specifics because I feel I already spoiled too much of this book as it is. I just want to make it a point to say that I couldn't predict anything that happened in this book. Surely this can't be the final book. Surely there are more. This book has me baffled! I can't think of anything I didn't like about the story. The narrators did a terrific job. I am amazed that they did an even better performance on this book than they did the first one. It does seem like a lot more action and story happen in this book though. I guess my only complaint is that it didn't last long enough for me. I fully recommend this book. I strongly encourage reading the first book though. It would help clarify a lot of references that happen in t his book. Be prepared to hit a lot of twists and turns and be shocked through the journey. I never thought I'd enjoy twists as much as I did with this book! Can't wait to read more!

Ascension Volume One, Part Two

Ascension Volume One, Part Two

After entering the other realm of, both Luna and Parker/Cassien have come into their own powers. Now Luna is the Queen of the light court and Cass is a prince of the dark court. Luna cannot understand why Parker has turned so completely to the dark, but her new husband is hiding the secret behind the transformation. Meanwhile, Carter/Cadris and Anya, Luna's sister, are going through much the same situation as Luna and Cass did when they met. Will either couple be able to bridge the gap between the courts, or will Gio be the winner of the war after all?

If you're looking for a dark fantasy where secrets breed more secrets and neither side seem able to to admit to the truth, this is the book for you. Beware, though, for the ending may not be an ending.

Blown Away!!!!

Part II of Yolanda Hatcher's dark fantasy story Ascension continues the saga of dark vs light and brilliantly explores the thin line between love and hate. Narrators Jason Clarke, Amanda Leigh, Samara Naeymi and John York performances were awesome. Not your sweet fairy tale, it is a well written story full of passion, suspense, heart wrenching angst and emotions you will feel down to your bones. This was a fantastic read/listen. #EpicRead

Good narration a bit confusing

I really enjoyed that this book had multiple narrators and we got to hear so many good voices. It would have been even more incredible if they were all speaking their own characters throughout the book. However, I have to say I found the book a bit confusing at times and a little slow. Overall I liked it but I think it could have sped up a bit in parts and explained a bit more in other parts. It has a large cast of characters and the names took a while to follow their characters. Overall a good listen but make sure you are not distracted or you might miss a crucial part.

Mixed thoughts

I really loved the performances. 5 star performances for sure.

I would have liked to give the story 3.5 stars. The story was both frustrating and engaging at the same time, with a twist that I didn't see coming. It feels like there should be more to the story. I didn't like most of the characters' actions, but I did appreciate the emotion that was written into the story. I'm hoping for a Volume 2 (all in one volume, no parts) with a happy ending.

Ascension Bk 2

In the conclusion Parker Stevens finds out he is not who he thought he was. He's Cassien Alaris, Prince of the Dark Court. He's a dark and strong weapon to be reckoned with.

Luna Ainsworth has a responsibility to save her people despite the fact she doesn't love her betrothed. Her life was never her own. Luna is Queen of the Elite Light Tylwyth Teg and naive as she is to trust blindly, she does as she's told and it has consequences.

Magic, bad blood, family skeletons, and hurt feelings all inter twine into a terrific story. I really enjoyed until the end....I would have preferred a different ending.

Jason Clarke, Amanda Leigh, Samara Naeymi, and John York do a fantastic job at narrating this mystical and creative tale.

Mixed

Was agitated most of the book. Luna had better be under some sort of mind control (if this turns out to be so she is weaker than I first thought). Her flippant attitude is a bit much.
The only true insight she had was when she admitted she was naive. Yes, naive and self absorbed. Why did she even start listening to her mother? She was wrong every time. Why did Luna not ever consider Cass is the father? We all know she will have twins.
I really hope he ends up with the nymph. Luna sucks.

cliffhanger still!

I read that this was the "conclusion to volume 1" so I thought there'd be an actual conclusion. there was an end to one story arc, in a way, but it definitely still ended on a twist/cliffhanger.
I've enjoyed the volume so far, but I need more!

the voice actors were great, generally.
one of the character voices was distractingly weird/cheesy, but the other character(s?) the actor did were good, and there wasn't too much of that particular voice so it was fine.
