Sulla nostra bandiera la Costituzione non dice molto. Eppure, le sue poche parole sono estremamente significative, non solo per la scelta di costituzionalizzare la foggia della bandiera nazionale, ma anche per la storia che la precede.
È ormai da più di duecento anni che il tricolore costituisce, per tutti gli italiani, un segno di identità. Il suo aspetto non è sempre stato esattamente il medesimo, anzi ha conosciuto non poche vicissitudini, ma al di là dei cambiamenti il suo potente messaggio simbolico è rimasto intatto. Intenderne bene il senso è fondamentale per capire l'intera Costituzione.
