I'm a bit ambivalent about magic stories, but this was a little different, and all the better for it. An entertaining tale, with a rather feckless hero trying to navigate his way, and his life, around the hidden world of magic. Lots of dry humor which was great and lifted the book above the ordinary. Narration was excellent, One minor (or maybe major) niggle was that the volume in the first half of the book kept alternating between loud and quieter which was a bit distracting and there were a few mis-read words (Elise/Elsie?). On the whole though, definitely recommended
