About this listen

When Meagan was five years old, her mother was viciously attacked and murdered.

Now an adult, she herself is the victim of an abusive relationship. She’s desperate to escape but doesn’t have the courage to leave.

So when Meagan meets Oliver, a decent guy who is on the rebound after a failed relationship, the two strike up a connection. But when Meagan confesses that her husband is abusive, it leads Oliver down a dark and dangerous path.

Just how far would you go to protect someone?

Oliver is about to find out and be pushed to his very limits....

Absolutely loved it!! A real unexpected twist at the end. Very well done, Stuart!

This book is set in the Meagan's past (before the 999 phone call) and in Meagan and Oliver's present. It is a tale of domestic abuse and it's consequences. It has a really creepy feel with several twists and an unforgettable ending.

This could have been a 5* book but I had to deduct a star because I absolutely HATED the character of Oliver. No one is that stupid And it sort of spoiled if for me.

I listened to the Audible version of this but actually wish I'd read it. There are two narrators. James Langton does a good job but Heather Wilds narration is just dreadful. Her voice is monotonous and irritating. She may well be a robot as there is no emotion there at all. Such a shame :-(

Great book but dreadful narration.

Gripping and clever. Though the female narrative was beyond annoying!
Although she did a good job of the speech, the narration was like listening to The Pools:
Newcastle 1
Sheffield Wednesday 3

Manchester United 2
Liverpool nil

Great story

I was disappointed with this both with the story and the narration. The narrative was rather simplistic although I quite liked the twist at the end. The characters were rather undeveloped.

Disappointing
