This book is the first time I've seen an author point out the strengths of anxious attachment, including empathy, a capacity for deep connection, and intuition. Most books of this type just focus on moving away from it. I appreciated how Banks defined self worth (the foundation for our emotional health) and self love (recognizing one's worth and not settling for less than one deserves).The connections he made between self sabotage, love addiction, and anxious and/or avoidant attachment were helpful as well. If you or someone you love struggles with maintaining secure attachments, I recommend this book to you.

This was fascinating to see the anxious attachment and the avoidant detachment right beside each other. What may be a protective measure for one could be felt as an attack or dismissal from the other, creating an unintentional toxic cycle amongst the two that could genuinely care about each other, yet don't understand why one behaves the way they/we do. This is a great resource to not only better communicate what we need, but to also learn how to hold accountable our own behaviors as we transition into a more secure attachment style.
