Summary

A hawk circles over your head, effortlessly riding the wind. The eyes of a raccoon peer keenly out at you from the night. A spider spins an intricate web on your windowsill. Is this coincidence, or is there a message for you in these events?

According to Ted Andrews, there is: The universe is whispering its wisdom to you through the hidden language of animals. In Animal Speak, an original audio companion to his landmark book of the same title, Andrews presents an in-depth workshop to help you tap the power of the animal spirits in your own life. Filled with stories collected from decades of teaching students across the world, Animal Speak features:

  • How to determine your own power animals - your personal totems and allies
  • Learning to understand the "language" of animals - both wild and domestic
  • Methods and techniques for calling on the innate medicine of your animal guardians for protection, healing, and uncovering your own hidden strengths
  • The animals that frighten you and how you can turn that fear into a healing force
  • How every encounter with a living creature can become an epiphany of the heart - as well as a message from the divine
  • And more

The most fantastic storyteller

Not only is this audiobook packed full of ancient knowledge about connecting to nature as well as animals. The narration is first class. There are a couple of stories in this audiobook that really pulled me in. Beautiful.

Ted Andrews at his best

I hesitated to buy this download because I knew that, based on the run time, it wasn’t an unabridged version of Andrews’s book of the same name. I’m glad that didn’t stop me.
The presentation is more like a talk than a verbatim reading. Andrews imparts his take on a “spiritual,” mental, and physical connection we humans are capable of having with animals. The content is neither too cursory nor too in-depth. I’m now going to buy the print version of the book, and I’m totally fine with that.
Highly recommended.

Excellent!

I really enjoyed this. I have a print copy of the book as was intending to go back and forth between the two but this recording doesn't follow the book exactly. This was a pleasant surprise. The book is more reference and this was more story and insights with some activities to try mixed in.

Not sure if performance includes sound quality....

The narrator's performance deserves 5 stars, but the sound quality of this recording is very poor. lots of skips and drops and clicks and warbles to distraction.
I really enjoyed the story, a good mix of children's fables and adult self help.... it had me wishing that we had a Native American storyteller to present some of the topics of this book at the Nisswa MN Turtle Races....

Excellent

This is an excellent companion to Ted Andrew's book, especially if you're new to the subject matter; it is a perfect introduction. He also manages to keep the listener engaged while many other similar readings simply fail in that regard, even when the material is of interest.

I recommend it!

Not what I expected

This book came recommended to learn more about Spirit Animals. I was expecting more of a direct correlation rather than a philosophy.

I did get a lot out of the information and how to use spirit animals. I thought I knew but I realized my view was not as 3D as I thought. Thank for that.

I can see why he didn't go into a lion represents XYZ and mouse is this. There is a bit of interpretation. But, what frustrated me is that he says to study the animal. How, watch them, radio up on them. Maybe I am too literal. I would appreciate if he gave recommendation to resources where I could easily study the animal without relying on a google search or go in ng to the library and check out several books.

Animals cross my path frequently and in the hustle and bustle of this world it would be nice if there was a quick reference, like an animal spirit encyclopedia. If I wanted or needed more info then I can go down the rabbit hole.

I wish there were suggestions on how to study the animal. Otherwise the philosophy and views on interpretation were eye opening. Again, thank you.
