Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

'All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.'

When the downtrodden animals of Manor Farm overthrow their master Mr Jones and take over the farm themselves, they imagine it is the beginning of a life of freedom and equality. But gradually a cunning, ruthless élite among them, masterminded by the pigs Napoleon and Snowball, starts to take control.

Soon the other animals discover that they are not all as equal as they thought, and find themselves hopelessly ensnared as one form of tyranny is replaced with another.

What a treat! Adam Buxton narrating Animal Farm!

Dr. Buckles reading me Animal Farm was something I didn't realise I needed. Adam's voices are always great, so are very welcome indeed. Thanks man.

A really fantastic way to experience Animal Farm for the first time!

I had been wanting to read ‘Animal Farm’ for a long time. As I am a HUGE Count Bucules fan, I was delighted to learn that he had been asked to narrate the book and used my credit on it at once! I was not at all disappointed!

Adam’s performance imbues each character with wondrous personality and simultaneously expresses perfectly both the very serious aspects and the more darkly comic moments in the story.

I really hope DR Buckles continues narrating audiobooks and encouraging me to enjoy more modern classics in the future! ❤️

Brilliant

An absolute joy. Buxton’s masterful rendition is fabulous to behold. His love for the source material is evident, but not so much that it detracts from the text; in fact, I would go so far to say it enhances Orwell’s words. Such a delight. Thanks!

Better then Stephen Fry’s version...

Dr. Buckles should be narrating more audiobooks and getting paid loads more then every other audiobook narrator out there.....including Stephen Fry.

Adam Buxton is perfect for this book!

I’ve always liked Animal Farm, and Adam Buxton does a brilliant job of bringing the story to life. His voices for the characters are fantastic and the pace and intonation just right. I hope to see more books coming out with his narration.

A brilliantly performed version of Orwell

Adam Buxton's performance of Animal Farm makes Orwell's classic spring to life. His characterisation and delivery perfectly suit the story. I hope Adam reads more books for Audible in the future

Smashing

I admit I'm already biased towards Adam Buxton, but even if I weren't, I would highly recommend this audiobook! The narration is great, with unique voices for each character without undermining Orwell's voice and message. Really hope Dr Buckles narrates more in future.

I guess I should review the book too. If you've read this before, you'll like this version. And if this classic has been on your to-read list for ages, strike it off ASAP. It's short and accessible to all - even younger readers (listeners) can appreciate it. You don't need to understand the history of Communism to understand the themes of class, power, and corruption, unfortunately as relevant today as ever.

Outstanding

Little needs to be said about the power and importance of the story itself. However, the narration by Adam Buxton is exceptional - what a treat!
