About this listen

A freak accident in rural Wyoming leads the sheriff's department to arrest a man for a possible double homicide, but further investigations suggest a much more horrifying discovery - a serial killer who has been kidnapping, torturing, and mutilating victims all over the United States for at least 25 years. The suspect claims he is a pawn in a huge labyrinth of lies and deception - can he be believed?

The case is immediately handed over to the FBI, but this time they're forced to ask for outside help. Ex-criminal behavior psychologist and lead detective with the Ultra Violent Crime Unit of the LAPD Robert Hunter is asked to run a series of interviews with the apprehended man. These interviews begin to reveal terrifying secrets that no one could've foreseen, including the real identity of a killer so elusive that no one, not even the FBI, had any idea he existed...until now.

Great story, really enjoyed the pace. Well read and grabbed me from the start.

Nicely dark and a few twists - could have happily enjoyed another hour in the middle.

I'd like another hour!

Could not listen to this book, which is extremely annoying as this is one of my favourite Chris Carter books, what on earth possessed them to change the narrator is beyond me, he is infuriating, very disappointed.

Disappointed Chris Carter Fanatic!

Another Great one

This is a change in format for Hunter. This start's with the killer being caught after year of killing without being noticed. So the story focuses on the attempt to delve into his history and thought process. A much needed change up to prevent repartition and also reflects further into Hunters back story.

I was hooked from the first to the last paragraph. So many twists and turns and a totally captivating story. This is the best book I have read and listened to for ages. In my opinion, this book has been the best in the series so far. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
If you haven’t read any Chris Carter before you find this book, I suggest starting at the beginning of the series to get the full measure of Robert Hunter.

WOW! Absolutely brilliant story.
