If you like American Idol MIGHT like this

I gave this a whirl because I like theatre, and because it was just over an hour's investment. I know Stroker won a Tony for her performance in Broadway's most recent revival of "Oklahoma." But that's about all I knew about her.

If you enjoy singing that screams out a song, without regard to the underlying 'story' or emotion, you might really enjoy this. The audience at the theatre seemed to. Then again, they were all screaming and howling, trying to outdo each other, after each song.

If you like a performance that's more "acted" with nuance and emotion, you'll probably be disappointed in her deliveries.

Thoroughly enjoyed

Great songs, stories and story telling. I might listen again. Wanting to check out more from Ali Stroker now too. It was a light and heartening show.

Hmmm…

My personal taste: I don’t like when the musicians are playing so loudly that the singer must belt out their voice, because it makes all the songs sound the same.
I liked getting to know her personal story.

What a voice!

Cried through most of this, got me in the heart. I will listen again. Heard Ms. Stroker on the cast recording of Oklahoma. Play in the car, warble along with the volume up.

Amazing!

I had no idea who Ali Stroker was (I don’t watch much live TV) and I’m so glad I downloaded this book. Now I’m looking for more of her work.

Lots of songs

She has a good voice but I was looking for more explanations in an audio book.

Ali Stroker is a musical gem!

I have always loved Ali, not just because of her voice. Her activism towards handicapped performers has given this group a voice, someone that represents them... And what a work she's done! Being a Tony Award winner is probably just the start of her unstoppable career. Can't wait what she does next! These songs should be available on music platforms (Spotify, Deezer, etc). I'd love to put them in my playlists and listen to them again and again!

Broadway Musicals Are My Favorites

Really enjoyed Ali Stroker’s performance. She has a great voice and can really belt out the music. Quite a few were memorable to me such as one of my old time favorites, “Oklahoma”. The newer songs were good too. I think Ali presented a good variety of music for all listeners. If you like musicals, you’re bound to enjoy listening to An Evening with Ali Stroker.
