Summary

The best aerial technique won't land 21-year-old Thora James her dream role in Amour, a sexy new acrobatic show on the Vegas strip. Thora knows she's out of her element the second she meets Amour's leading performer. Confident, charming, and devilishly captivating, 26-year-old Nikolai Kotova lives up to his nickname as the "God of Russia". When Thora unknowingly walks into the crosshairs of Nikolai's after-show, her audition process begins way too soon.

Unprofessional. That's what Nik calls their "nonexistent" relationship, but it's not like Thora can avoid him. For one, they may be partners in the future - acrobatic partners, that is. But getting closer to Nik means diving deeper into sin city and into his dizzying world.

Thora wants to perform with him, but when someone like Nikolai attracts the spotlight wherever he goes, Thora fears that she's destined to remain in the background of his spellbinding show.

unusual topic

Great perspective on an unsalted theme. I really liked the main characters. Nikoli a great alpha lead without being too mean or the character overcooked. Thoras internal dialogue of self doubt but gritty determination was refreshing to read. Loved the whole book.

Not What I Expected

Ugh.. I am really disappointed right now .. Love IS A Circus, what can go wrong with a tag line like that ?? well, read the book and find out, I expected to fall in love with every word in the book but it was really corny and trying so hard to make Nikolai the knight in the shining armor although he is not .. not by any stretch of the imagination, he is just moody and a brood .. that's it
so the story follows Thora, who has a dream to become a circus performer so she give up everything and go to Las Vegas to audition only to be refused .. so we will follow her "journey" to "improve" herself until the next auditions with the help of this guy Nikolai who is nicknamed Russian God for some reason
this book should be renamed " Nikolai and his world " because it was all about him and his life.. there was barely a development in Thora's personality .. but the atmosphere of Vegas was kind of fun I guess

The narration was really good, I would check out other books by the narrator because she was really feeling the characters

Love Really Is A Circus!

Would you listen to Amour Amour again? Why?

I would definitely listen to this book again, I've actually listen to it three times already....and I'll be going back for more. I found that when I was listening to this book I became completely immersed in Thora's world and all of the people in it. This one really grabbed onto me and didn't let go - I was captivated from start to finish.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Amour Amour?

I don't know if there was one part that was the most memorable, although I did have some really great moments. What I found that I love the most about the book was the fact that Thora was so determined despite all of that obstacles that kept getting her way. In the book Thora is always her greatest cheerleader and she is always telling herself that she can do it, I think her spirit and determination are memorable.

Which character – as performed by Ava Erickson – was your favorite?

Thora James is one of my favorite female leads that I have listened to and I thought that Eva did a wonderful job portraying her. I thought that she was a great fit for the character. She did a great job with all of the other characters in the book as well (I've listened to her before and I will listen to her again!). Also, Nikolai Kotova is wonderful book boyfriend material.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I felt very invested and connected to the book and all of the characters in it. It did make me laugh and cry - I felt like I was right there with Thora sharing in her experiences both high and low and going along with her.

Any additional comments?

Thora James wants to be in the circus, it is her passion, her joy and her dream... all she has to do is get in. Leaving behind her family, friends and her scholarship she goes to Las Vegas to audition for Arial Ethereal, specifically for the show Amour. She gets to the city of sin and meets up with the person she will be staying with, Camilla, at a nightclub where she is working at. While there she meets Nikolai Kotova, one of the performers in Arial Ethereal and their encounter is not one she will ever forget. In fact she's still thinking about it when she goes to her audition the next day and finds out Nikolai is the person she is auditioning to be partners with.

Let me just say that I loved this book. A lot. I thought that the way that the characters met was brilliant, and it's one of my favorite introductions. I'd had the book in my library for a while before I listened to it, and I'm sad I waited so long - but the second book in the series (also a standalone) Infini was just about to come out so I didn't have to wait long for more. The book is really well written, and so descriptive that you really feel like you are there and can see everything that is taking place.

The characters in this book are amazing! There are some wonderful family dynamic at play and each character is so much more than one dimensional. If you've read any other books by these authors you will recognize some things from other books (although it's not necessary). This is a lighter read, but still very complex and engaging. I highly highly recommend it!

Love Love Love

I hesitated downloading this book because of the cover. Ya, I know don't judge a book by its cover, but in this case, I couldn't help it. The cover of Amour Amour, looks like cover of the cheesy 70's Harlequin romances my grandmother used to read. But based on some reviews from Goodreads, I gave it a go, and wow is this worth a read. At first at takes a little while to warm to the MC Thora, she's weak, insecure and not all that charming. But after Nik and his lovable family members are introduced into the mix, you can't help get sucked into wild world of the Vegas circus scene. I can' wait for Luka's book.

Narration fell short

I absolutely love this book. The plot, the characters, just everything, it worked for me. I'm not a fan of the authors' other books really so you know, my love is based 100% on the book. That being said, I felt like the narration was not really up to par.

When the narrator is reading Tora, it's fine, no issues. When she reads male voices however, that's when it falls flat for me. Her voice goes a little stronger (more male like) speaking one line to a softer one (more female) in the next. There is a line where it reads "... he says in that low husky voice" yet he sounds just like Thora does. It's not as if I'm expecting the narrator to sound exactly like a man, I just think the way she read Nikolai was not consistent throughout the book.

Still, it wasn't horrible or hard to listen to. I do think I'd rather read the book again as opposed to listen to it.

Loved this book thought it was an extension of the Calloway . Great narrative. The determination and the extra strength to go on the the ups and down shows through out this book.

A circus story with almost no circus

I really love these authors, but sadly this one was a total miss for me. This was supposed to be a story about the circus (like cirque du soleil) and their performers, but the only thing you get is training and a couple of miserable scenes on the actual show, nothing of the backstage, nothing of the day to day, all the background work that is put in to this shows, and I get that writing about piruetas in an entertaining way is kind of hard, but what about all the backstage life (costume, stage, music, etc) they really miss an opportunity.
What did i like? Timo and John, wishing there was a story just for them.

OK story

A reticent love story of a different caliber, for that attempt alone, it should be rewarded with a star. An alpha hero who has the weight of the world resting on his Shoulders. Nikolai Kotova is strong, responsible and very dedicated to his craft as a lead actor in Vegas Show - Aerial Ethereal in Cirque - Amour, Amour.
In walks Thora James, an aspiring Performer form Ohio. Atypical of small town girl, bright shiny lights of Vegas make her dreams sparkle and hopes soar high.
Then she gets to experience the flip side of Vegas where dejection, struggle, hard work, bone breaking practices and Heartbreak are all slamming into her.
But strong survive and Thora finds her steel and vows to succeed
Ava Erickson has Narrated beautifully.
I loved all the characters individually, Esp Nick's brothers and sister. Nikolai too but I couldn't feel the chemistry between Thora and nik.
First half is too slow and I legit had a feeling that most of the story lazed around not going anywhere. Thora hardwork didn't pay off, nik never came to her rescue, their love didn't conquer much except silk routine. Shay's role was completely rendered useless.
It was OK, just didn't stimulate me enough
