About this listen

Why do some societies collapse into lawless savagery while others prove resilient and lasting?

On Zero Day of the first and last cyberwar in human history, the internet went dark, transport and power grids collapsed and cities began to starve, showing just how vulnerable the world could be to a targeted campaign of online sabotage. This final instalment of this prescient epic of civilisation collapse finds the small ragtag band of survivors come together to face a new, but eerily familiar threat - the rise of a fascist militia among the ruins of a failing country.

With American Kill Switch, John Birmingham’s End of Days trilogy comes to a high-octane, thrilling conclusion.

Slow burning story but the pace builds good throughout the three books and it’s finally.. original and realistic situations and characters reactions to there situations..

A good story made great by a talented narrator that really brought the characters and story to life

Intelligent apocryphal tails

Of all apocalyptic fiction, this is one of the very few where all the people don’t conveniently disappear or turn into zombies, making it one of the most realistic. Of course they take a few liberties for the sake of the story arc, but whatever.

This is closest to how it will go down, if it does.

If you ignore some not-so-subtle PC BS, it’s a great story. The characters are built very well and the story reaches suspension of disbelief easily.

Narration is quite good, maybe even better than the previous books.

Great ending for the saga

Loved this trilogy and the narrator. Refreshing to have main women characters in this genre written with personhood. Enjoyed the relatable contemporary references and some of the silliness in there too. It’s not ponderous - the trilogy is more of a Hollywood blockbuster type storyline, and all the better and enjoyable for it.

One of the best out there
