Summary

A mother’s job is to protect her child....

But everyone makes mistakes....

Gripping, exciting and emotional, this audiobook will grab you from the start and refuse to let you go until the final chapter!

I never thought it would happen to me....

One moment I had it all - a gorgeous husband, a beautiful home, a fulfilling career and two adorable children. The next, everything came crashing down around me.

They said it was my fault. They said I’m the worst mother in the world. And even though I can’t remember what happened that day, they wouldn’t lie to me. These are my friends, my family, people I trust.

But then why do I have this creeping sensation that something is wrong? Why do I feel like people are keeping secrets? Am I really as guilty as they say? And if I’m not, what will happen when the truth comes out?

Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell.

Disappointing

Great story lots of misdirection.
Poor narrator stumbling and hesitant over text, off putting. Occasionally forgetting the voice of the characters.
Had I read the reviews before purchase I probably would have opted for a physical copy of the book

Good listen

A real who done it, figured out quite early who it was but couldn't be sure and so many twists a turns it kept me guessing. Would make a great movie, 👍

Good story but…

I had listened to two other Jackie Kabler books that I really enjoyed so purchased this one. I think it would be better to read this book rather than listen to it as the narrating is irritating. The Flo characters voice is unreal and very annoying

What a book!

This was very powerful . Gripping and compulsive. I did find a “clicking sound throughout very annoying. Left me really thinking! Lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Highly recommended.

Persevere with the mouth clicks and saliva sounds

Great story but not keen on the narration. I’m sure the narrator would be good at reading other titles but didn’t suit this story. I recommend reading the book.

Gripping

I’ve listened to two Jackie Kablers free from Plus and on sale. Would definitely spend precious credits on more from this author - which says it all, really. Additionally, enjoyed the Cheltenham and Cotswolds settings as this is where I grew up (amazed the Montpelier Wine Bar still exists as first established in the 1970s!) Narration could be better, but didn’t spoil overall enjoyment.

Terrible narration

I had to stop listening to this book, the narration is so bad, Floras character in particular was excruciating to listen to!!!!

Unpleasant narration

I’ve listened to 8 chapters and I feel like it’s taken weeks to get this far.

The narrator makes too many mouth noises for me and that leaves me distracted from the storyline, what little there is. I’m not enjoying the voices / accents for the characters so I don’t have any connection with any of them and to be honest, I don’t really care what happens to any of them right now.

The narrator also appears to stumble over words quite regularly and the peculiar pronunciation of some very ordinary words is infuriating. Sorry, I’m giving up on this one.

Awful Narrator

Couldn't get past the first few chapters due to the narrator and her tongue clicking and it sounding like she had a mouthful of spit whilst reading, it made me feel sick
