About this listen

What would you do if you learned that your spouse or partner has progressive dementia and, even possibly, Alzheimer’s disease? This is the brutally honest journal of one spouse and reluctant caregiver who “ran for the hills”. Of course, she took her husband George along!

What challenges did Susan encounter? How can she enjoy the present - a journey across the USA - while worrying about the future? How does she and George deal with his increasing dementia symptoms? And the biggest question of all: After 40 years together, can they remain married and loving through it all?

Travel along with George and Susan. You will learn, you will laugh, and maybe, shed a tear as you too go Alzheimer’s trippin’ with George.

I have adored listening to this book. The pathos and emotion that has gone into it is truly amazing. How Sue Straley coped with everything the trip threw at her is astounding. I feel privileged to have been a small part of her and George’s journey. I received this book as a complimentary copy, and am more than pleased to leave this review. Cannot wait to start the next journey.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this independent review. Having just finished listening to it, I'm extremely grateful Alzheimer's Trippin' with George came my way. What a special book this is, succinctly and candidly capturing the highs and lows that a dementia diagnosis can bring. It's written with real passion (the author is not afraid to show things just as they are) and the searingly honest and detailed narrative pulls a real punch. For me, it is the detail which makes this book unique and creates a book all caregivers will identify with and learn from. There's a natural, relaxed writing style here and a great narration from Robin Siegerman. A unique account of a unique road-trip. Insightful, humorous and emotional.
