Summary

One day I was bebopping along, jamming to the music in my head while wondering if my thighs could handle grabbing a cupcake on the way home. The next thing I knew, my entire world crashed and burned.

I used to wake up at night in a sweat, crying because I'd dreamt that my husband was cheating on me or that he hated me and resented my kids. He'd always hold me close and tell me it was all just a dream, that he loved me and our family and that he'd never let me go.

He was a f--king liar.

Now I spend my days taking photos of scum just like him, trying to be a champion for others being taken advantage of by the losers in our town, and my nights being a single mom to my beautiful twins.

I've got great friends who have my back and a sexy, mysterious motorcycle man who keeps showing up when I need him. Maybe things are starting to look up, and one thing's for sure.... There's always room for cupcakes.

If Soccer Mom was Veronica Mars

I received this audiobook via a promo code and this is my voluntary review. Lila's husband was a dirty rotten cheater, leaving her with little choice but to take on a part time job as a PI to keep a roof over her head, while she juggles 2 jobs and raising their twins. Life's finally getting back to some kind of normal, if not boring routine when she meets a sexy biker named Cade. It's in the same kind of cozy PI drama as Stephanie Plum, and the romance angle is enjoyable. It's a bit more like Legally Blonde Elle Woods decided to play Veronica Mars, full of a loveable cast of side characters, and an honest love of cupcakes. Lila was very relateable and I loved her can-do attitude, her hatred of her ex was a nice mix, shes self-aware but a great mom. “I’d learned quickly that men suck, my children are my saving grace, and there is always room for cupcakes.” How could you not love a woman whose got her priorities right?

Always room for cupcakes

The main character works as a photographer for a PI company and she takes photos of people cheating on each other. When she stumbled across her husband with another woman she left him!! Lots of laugh out loud moments. I loved listening to this audiobook. The only slight niggle was the sound quality of the recording (I was given a copy of this audiobook, at my request, for free in exchange for an honest review, good or bad)

yummy cupcakes! and a lot of fun thrown in

I thought this was going to be a short cozy kind of novel. But it wasn't. :) It was a very good story, highly entertaining, and down right funny in some parts.
I loved Lillia! She is very witty and and fast mouthed.
I would recommend this to anyone, who wants a fast paced, short story that you can listen all in one sitting.. and It has a some great sex in it, but its not overloaded with it. oh, and shares a love for cupcakes. :)

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Cupcakes make everything better

I really wasn't sure what to expect with this read...romance, cozy mystery ect - but I feel in love with Lila who is as tough as she is soft hearted. I loved this story line and I loved how well Lopez was able to introduce us to these characters, their pasts all so seamlessly. I felt as though I knew Lila forever. Narration was spot on! This was a perfect mix of what the heck is going on, romance and steamy bedroom scenes that also has some lol moments too! A great read all around! This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Reminds me of Stephanie Plum but more grown up

I loved this, its the first time I've read/listened to Bethany Lopez but it won't be the last.
The narrator brings the story to life. She reminds me of Barbara Rosenblatt who was one of my first favorite narrators. She differentiates between voices wonderfully.

A terrific story. Told in first person, we find life after divorce anything but boring. Deciding to help a local PI catch more cheating spouses, taking pictures becomes a new way of life. This sometimes funny, sometimes suspenseful story kept my attention from start to finish. Stephanie Garner did a good job narrating although through a lot of it she either had sound problems or was moving away from the mic at times. I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

Great writing!

I really enjoyed this title. The writing was sharp and quick. The story was great. I had a small issue with the one truly violent scene in the book which felt disproportionate with the rest of the story. I think the author could have seen her way through the plot with something less gruesome and still achieved her objective. I received a free audio copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Always room for cupcakes

I received this audible in exchange for my honest review of Always Room for Cupcakes. It was refreshing to have a different storyline. This story was different from what I’m used to reading and when I read what the story was about I was flabbergasted at how good the story was. You have a cheating man who gets caught by his wife in the act. She has kids in the car. Well she doesn’t put up with his cheating. She snaps a photo. Divorced the turd. Uses the photo to get a job catching cheaters and more...

Sound quality not the best

This is a good story, but the fluctuations in volume recordings was annoying. It was like it was recorded on a cell phone and the narrator would randomly turn her head away from the microphone. I enjoyed this book way more than any Plum character books.

cupcakes yum Aways Room for Cupcakes Delicious.

I was gifted this Audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author /narrator

Bethany Lopez has written a great book that is a fresh story.
Stephanie Garner outdid herself with the narration.
Lila is a divorced mom of twins who is trying to make ends meet. She goes from being a stay at home mom, to an investigative photographer who takes photos of cheating scum bags who are cheating on their wives.
If you are looking for a great book with humor, then you need to listen to this book.
It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end, was kinda tired near the end.
I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.
I highly recommend this Audio Book.

A more mature Stephanie Plum-fun and entertaining!

Would you listen to Always Room for Cupcakes again? Why?

No, I wouldn't listen to Always Room for Cupcakes again. I rarely listen to books more than once, so this isn't a reflection of the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This whole story revolves around Lila and I have to say that she was definitely my favorite character. If you've read Janet Evanovich, she's like a sassier, more mature (stronger language) Stephanie Plum. She calls her ex-husband "The Douche" throughout the book when referencing him. I enjoyed her a lot.

What does Stephanie Garner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think that Stephanie Garner did a good job with this narration. She's got a solid, strong voice and I could easily differentiate between the various characters. A good narrator can make or break an audiobook. She brought strength and sass to Lila and brought a realness to the the characters.

Who was the most memorable character of Always Room for Cupcakes and why?

Again, the most memorable character for me in this book would have to be Lila for the reasons that I already mentioned above.

Any additional comments?

Don't let the title fool you! This sounds like a cute novel with NO language and everything very vanilla. Haha...Seriously, if you like Janet Evanovich, you should enjoy this one as well. I could definitely see the author developing these characters more and making this into a series.
