About this listen

He took a machete to the back. And now, he’s a super-soldier.

Dan Erikson lay cold and alone, bleeding to death. After a disastrous gang fight, Dan’s life has run its course on the crime-ridden streets of New York. But the mysterious Alpha Corporation intervenes and drags him from the brink of death.

They give him a choice: serve or die.

A new bizarre landscape opens up with character stats, armor and weapons in a world of warring factions. The corporation assigns Dan his first real mission: go to Amethyst and crush a rebellion.

New serum. New gear. New powers.

Dan is now one of untold millions serving the Alpha Corp. Is he up for the job? Or will he be another statistic in the Alpha Corp’s desperate arms race against rival corps?

Experience the start of this pulse-pounding Cyberpunk LitRPG from Kevin Do set in the 24th century. Featuring a weak to strong MC who never backs down, stat leveling, rewarding progression, high-risk high-reward missions, and a need to prove himself in a futuristic dystopian/fantasy world.

After a quarter million reads on Royal Road, the series has now made it to Kindle. Buy Alpha Agent and sign up to the Alpha Corporation today!

What struck me about this story is how it shows that real power isn’t measured by abilities alone, but by the choices that shape who we become.. without integrity, strength becomes reckless, even destructive. But when guided by values and responsibility, it turns into something meaningful, something that builds rather than breaks. It reminded me that the hardest battles aren’t always external.. sometimes they’re the choices we make about the kind of person we want to be.

I'm not new to RPGs, but I am new to literary RPGs, so I'm still discovering what can be achieved within this genre, and this novel made me want to keep exploring it in book 2. I might even buy the printed version so I can better understand how the abilities evolve over time.

I love how Dan's character evolves and progresses through his ability tree. The densely populated world controlled by multinational corporations and the fight for increasingly scarce resources always pulls me deeper into cyberpunk settings, and this book is no exception. I don’t know if it was intentional, but many parts reminded me of Akira, which is definitely a plus.

The narration is excellent, well-paced and expressive. The chapters are short, so I ended up listening to several in a row before returning to reality and getting back to work.

A thrilling atmosphere reminiscent of Akira

Alpha Agent pulls you right into a gritty cyberpunk world where progression mechanics and high-stakes action blend seamlessly. The pacing is sharp, the world-building is vivid, and the LitRPG elements feel integral to the story rather than just tacked on.

I especially liked how the protagonist’s growth feels earned—you really see the grind, the strategy, and the payoffs as he levels up in a dangerous, neon-soaked world. The mix of hacking, combat, and survival keeps the tension high, while the character depth gives you someone worth rooting for.

If you enjoy cyberpunk with strong LitRPG progression and a constant edge of danger, this is an excellent start to what promises to be a thrilling series.

This story was seriously intense and fast-paced, pulling you into a gritty cyberpunk world where power and survival come at a cost. Watching Dan Erikson’s transformation from a dying street fighter to a cyber-enhanced super-soldier was both thrilling and unsettling. A great start to what promises to be a gripping adventure series.
