Can hear swallowing and saliva in the voice of Verity which I found very unsettling

Koomson Does It Yet Again
Wow!! Just Wow! Dorothy Koomson does is once again!! Reading this book made me think and feel things I haven’t considered truthfully to myself.
It made me uncomfortable, it made me furious, it made me joyful and it made me sad.
I would love love love for Dorothy Koomson to do another book with these characters. Just so I could here where their lives are and different points in time.
I love All My Lies Are True even more than The Ice Cream Girls if that’s possible.
Everyone should read Dorothy Koomson - it will better their lives in some way, shape or form.

Just fantastic!
Since being at Uni I've not read much. I was a fan of Dorothy's from years ago and remembered being enthralled by The Chocolate Run, The Ice Cream Girls and My Best Friends Girl. Started listening to this yesterday and couldn't put it down! Amazing story. A sequel better than the original. All I can say is I want more! Great work Dorothy Koomson. GREAT WORK!

Narrator for Verity
I I have just finished 'The ice cream girls' and I was so looking forwarding to listening to this audiobook.
From the moment that the character of Verity started talking, I could hear swallowing saliva, gulping and other mouth noises that I found annoying and unsettling. I tried to listen to a few more pages, I even managed to the second chapter but then I couldn't continue...
I have instead ordered the paperback which I will hopefully get by tomorrow. I am returning the audiobook but it's a shame when something like this happened. I am glad though that when I read the reviews I realised that other readers mentioned the same thing....

A bit of a let down as a follow up
I loved the ice cream girls so I was excited to listen to this, but it lacked the suspense the ice cream girls had and dragged out too long. It was predictable and superficial.
The narrator for verity was a bit annoying as you literally hear her mouth opening every time she spoke, sadly that is like nails on a chalk board for me and took away from her actually being a good narrator as it was all I could focus on.
If you liked the ice cream girls I wouldn’t recommend, it’ll ruin it for you.

Disappointed
I have read this authors books before. This one is just dull. Not a fan of the woman who is the main character narrator. She constantly gets words wrong. Grating

Yuk!!!!
I am five minutes in and have to stop. The saliva noises and swallowing are disgusting. It’s a shame as I really enjoy this author. You’d think audible or the publisher would have proof listened.

Narrator for Verity lets this down :(
I couldn't finish this despite enjoying Dorothy Koomson's work, as the narrator for Verity was too difficult to listen to. I only got as far as Ch16. Such a shame as I was looking forward to this sequel and the other narrators were great!

the only Dorothy Koomson I've not enjoyed
thr book itself is well-written as always from a brilliant author. This narrative just didn't do anything for me. the Icecream Girls was a brilliant book (the first Koomson book I listened to) and it was screaming out for a sequel to tell let everyone know what happened...this was not it! it just got a bit far-fetched with too many coincidences, too many stories of abuse for them to be believable. There were a few characters who came into the book that didn't really need to be in there and a few that were left out that could have added interest. In addition to this, I found the narration really irritating. As many others mentioned, you could hear way too much 'mouth noise' throughout. Koomson tends to use a few narrators for her characters but it niggled me this time. The narrators would speak as a character and then a different narrator would have a completely different voice for them seconds later. I would give this one a miss but highly recommend other books by the same author.
