Absolutely couldn't stop listening. Amazingly true to such an awful time in history. Bravery knows no bounds of this author.

Devastatingly excellent, unbelievably sad.

Fascinating book with a great insight into how people can treat other people with no regard for life.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I think this book is fantastically written I could not put it down, it makes you realise how lucky you are and how strong a human can be.

I will miss this book and although it was heart breaking I did not want this book to end, I feel strangely close to Gerda although I am a million miles apart in every way.

I would highly recommend this book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes the part when Gerda was seporated from her parents.

Any additional comments?

other reviews say the narrator was monotone but I thought she was authentic and her tone and pitch was fitting to this story, if she had been more animated it would be disrespectful to the story and its harrowing events.

Best book i have ever come across

this account of the horrors of the Nazi machine moved me to tears on a number of occasions. The sincerity of the author is evident, and the unequalled hardships these poor people make harrowing but compelling reading. A true triumph of the spirit.

Exceptional

in simple words the horrors are described but always at the center the humanity in the little things. no better, no worth than anyone else. just a human trying to survive. the book got me on the verge of crying several times. highly recommended.
