About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Alice Teale is missing. In a town full of secrets, hers was the biggest.

The gripping new thriller from the bestselling author of The Chosen Ones.

As usual, seventeen-year-old Alice Teale walked out of school at the end of a bright spring day.

She's not been seen since.

Alice was popular and well-liked, and her boyfriend, friends and family are desperate to find her. But when the police start asking questions, it becomes clear that almost everyone has something to hide.

Torn between a host of suspects, Detectives Beth Winter and Lucas Black don't know which way to turn. But then they receive a disturbing package: pages from Alice's precious diary.

Who could have sent them? And have they done with Alice?

Critic reviews

A masterful missing person thriller with great characters and plenty of twists - simply superb
Delving into the complex world of a missing teenager, Linskey nails the adolescent voice to uncover a dark trail of secrets, lies and betrayal. This is page-turning fiction with real heart
Alice Teale Is Missing is my kind of book. With exemplary prose and relentless plotting, Linskey puts shocking small town secrets under the microscope with superb results. The fresh-faced Beth Winter and the misanthropic Lucas Black are a pairing that shouldn't work but absolutely do. Dogged and intuitive, they are beating heart of this story and I can't wait to see where Linskey takes them next.
A brilliantly plotted, perfectly clued story of the dark power of terrible truths. Compulsive reading from page one.
He just keeps getting better and better. I was gripped by this one. Hooks you in and doesn't let go. Strength in characterisation as always - I was sad to let this one go (Luca Veste, author of The Six)

They've tried to remedy the poor reader by adding an extra voice to cope with accents but without success. Second book I've ended up purchasing in paper form from the Linskey collection and will continue to do so until they select a reader that matches the story.

Great story poorly read.

Fantastic listen, lots of strings to the story, suspect there is more to come from the detectives.

Kept me guessing.....

Very edgy and fast paced. Strong storyline with a few twists. Definitely an author to read more of.

A brilliant whodunnit

I did enjoy this book, but it was obviously sad in places. Written very well, with lots of guessing who done it. Narrative by both readers was excellent. Thank you.

Such a good book

I really did enjoy this book. I Found it hard to stop listening into the wee hours. The plot was unexpected with twists and turns. The narrators were very good But I just have one reservation. This book is set in Northumberland albeit a fictious town. It is where I live. The narrator for Alice had a good regional accent but the narrator for all the other characters made them sound like they came from London somewhere like Lewisham !This meant that the Northern dialect words and phrases particular to this area , that author had written were lost. I’m not sure why they chose to do this. I know it is a small criticism and it did not spoil an otherwise good book . I hope there will be more in the series.

Great listen !
