Summary
Before, during and after Manchester United
Alex is the most up-to-date biography of Sir Alex Ferguson, the most decorated manager in British football history.
Find out how he recovered from his brain surgery in 2018, why he appointed David Moyes as his successor, how livid he was when Moyes was sacked 10 months later, what he thought of Louis van Gaal’s tenure as Manchester United manager, what he thought of Jose Mourinho’s reign, and just how big a role he played in the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
This book also takes a deep dive into Alex’s relationship with the Glazer family and how he views the work carried out by Ed Woodward.

Good insights, awful narration
Enjoyed this. Some new insights and updated to include recent events. However, the narrator mispronounced quite a number of football terms, and wasn’t suited to the subject matter. Also, there were everlasting factual errors within the books.

Fascinating insight.
This is - by far - the best book written about Fergie. It goes in depth into how he ruled as a manager, as well into who he is as a person, opening the doors to his private life. The best insight dives deep into everything that happened at Manchester United since he retired, gifting insight into Moyes, Mourinho, Van Gaal etc. it also describes Fergie’s thoughts on the Glazer family and their ownership of Man United. A MUST READ FOR ANYONE WHO CALLS THEMSELF A MAN U FAN.

Excellent book
Not a football fan in the least but fully aware of this man and the legend that he is made me buy this. It’s very very good. His narration is excellent. Stories interesting and relatable. Driving for a living made the long roads fly by.

A(nother) good view of the man
Written like someone had been assigned a summer essay where they had to meet a certain number of words. There was a lot of repeating sentences in between chapters. Name pronunciations were also a bit off and the timing of Guardiola coaching Barcelona is incorrect.

Riddled with errors and inaccuracies
Very disappointing book. The story of Sir Alex is well trodden territory but sadly this book is not a great entry into the library. There us absolutely nothing new or revelatory here, just content rehashed from various Ferguson autobiographies, interviews and it is chock full of inaccuracies and basic factual errors that listeners with even a casual understanding of Ferguson career will notice. The constant referral to Sit Alex as Alec is grating as is the repeated “and you can find more about that later on” which makes it read more like a high school essay than a published book by a supposed sportswriter.
