3 gentleman in a pub and nothing would be ever the same again 😉
The voice of Rob Goll gives life to 4 amazing characters.
I'm looking forward to new adventures according to the cliffhanger ending.

If you could sum up Against the Odds in three words, what would they be?

Challenge. Fortitude. Comradeship.

What did you like best about this story?

The relationship between the three main characters.

Have you listened to any of Rob Goll’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes, I am a big fan of Rob Goll. He is always original. He brings this story to life in such a beautiful way. I love how he did all the accents and made the characters feel so real.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely.

Any additional comments?

Perfect for all the werewolves fans!

Action Galore!

I found this book unnecessarily bloody and a poor attempt at mimicking the three musketeers.

I rarely do short stories as I'm never convinced that they offer genuine value for money compared with full-length audiobooks. However, Audible said this was maybe a book I had missed and I had a Listening Rewards Voucher burning a hole in my pocket so I couldn't really lose.

As it turned out I quite enjoyed my three quarters of an hour in McArdle and Goll's company. Against the Odds is entertaining and action packed with as much depth to it as you'd expect from a short story. Goll's narration is very good. in fact it's excellent in terms of some of the character voicings, though maybe a little clipped in the descriptive narrative.

So, if you want to spend a brief time with an entertaining fantasy story offering lots of bloody action and you have a couple of pounds or a voucher to spare then this will fit the bill. Just be careful to check that you're paying cash and not a full credit at the checkout . . . I've been caught there before now!

A Brief but Blood-Soaked Interlude

Would you consider the audio edition of Against the Odds to be better than the print version?

Yes, especially if a reader has trouble imagining different accents specific to certain characters.

What other book might you compare Against the Odds to, and why?

Warhammer books because it was a gritty as chewing a mouthful of gravel but had lighter moments as well, the characters were grand and epic yet still relateable and fun!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The bar fight!

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a bar....It's no joke!

Any additional comments?

This was a rip roaring roller coaster of an audiobook, jam packed with colorful characters from all walks and shades of life, one of those great fantasy novels that takes a warhammer to all the chit chat, eviscerates the nonsense and dives straight into the action with a blow to the jaw in a free for all brawl, oh and there's were wolves! What's not to love? Robert Goll was a delight to listen to!

An Englishman, an Irishman and a Sctotsman.......
