Surprisingly Good!
"After the Storm" exceeded my expectations. It was well written and had a well thought out plot. The characters were interesting and likable.
The author has a good command of language, so her descriptions were not overly wordy. Her characters came alive under her talented pen...it's as if you were there.
"After the Storm" has love and romance, intrigue, murder and attempted murder. I don't like reading about explicit sexual lust or detailed blood and gore, so I appreciated how tastefully everything was done.
It held my interest from beginning to end.
Stevie Zimmerman gave a great performance.

Can't miss with Claudy Conn
Narrator: Stevie Zimmerman does a nice job. But I really don't like how she makes the heroine's voice so whiny and that in most of the books she reads.
Liked the story, the plot and of course the ending.
The one part I couldn't get into is all the fuss Gwen(Jason/the Earl's twin sister)makes about why he shouldn't marry Jenny. And I was getting a bit bored with Johnny, Johnny, Johnny.
The plot did keep me guessing who-done-it. And was a bit surprise of who it really was until it came to the sabotaging of the bridge .

Loved this one!
I loved this story. The narration was perfect. She has a whimsical voice. The story was good with a nice twist to the end. Both of the main characters were very likeable. I did struggle whether I should buy it or use a credit. I like to save my credits for longer stories so I bought it in the end but it is a bit pricey for 6+ hours.

I read the book and knew I had to hear it! Anything that Claudy Conn writes is amazing.
What other book might you compare After the Storm to and why?
I cannont compare this to any other book as Claudy Conn has her own style of writing and each story brings us something new and amazing.
Have you listened to any of Stevie Zimmerman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I have not, but I will be sure to listen to him again.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Oh What Fun!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this as an overly dramatic fluff piece. It is not accurate, not appropriate, but still lots of fun. Calling loyal household servants "lackeys" and having a girl of this period be as self-aware as our heroine is is unrealistic, in my opinion.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I liked it. I thought that this was a sweet, thoughtful, first attempt by a new author and I would like to see her try to do better. The other 2 novels of hers that I have read are merely annoying, whereas, this one has some interesting details that, when listened to, make you want to give it a chance.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Stevie Zimmerman?
Yes. She isn't period or accent accurate, but she has a pleasant enough voice to listen to.
Do you think After the Storm needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. I don't think that there is enough story to make it into a follow-up. If you were to write about the hero and heroine's children, maybe.
Any additional comments?
No, as it doesn't seem like most Audible readers find my reviews to be helpful. I don't mind being singular.

I Fell in Love With the Characters!
This is a very well written Historical Romance story, fast paced, and easy to follow. I listened to the audio version of this read. Beautifully narrated.
Jenny of Ashley Grange is heartbroken and still in mourning for her life long friend, her fiance, and love of her life who lost his in the Battle of Waterloo.
She meets the Earl of Danfield, Jason, on a walk and the story twists into an agreement between Jenny and the Earl on a marriage of convenience which benefits each of them in different ways.
There is someone who is in bad sorts and is trying to create serious problems between Jenny and Jason or is it something else at the heart of the matter.
There is mystery, sensuality, love, suspense, and steam... I fell for these characters hook, line, and sinker. The world is so well portrayed I could close my eyes and visualize it.
Recommended if those over 18+
