Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of After the Party by Lisa Jewell, read by Imogen Church.

Eleven years ago, Jem and Ralph fell in love. They thought it would be forever, that they’d found their happy ending.

Then two became four, a flat became a house. Romantic nights out became sleepless nights in.

And they soon found that life wasn’t quite so simple anymore.

Now two people who were so right together are starting to drift apart. As they try to find a way back to each other, back to what they once had, they both become dangerously distracted.

But maybe it’s not too late to recapture happily ever after....

Loved it!

I’m so glad I didn’t read the featured reviews as I wouldn’t have purchased! I really enjoyed this book, if you loved Ralph’s Party this is a fantastic read with true to life observations of the journey of relationships from first head over heels love to the mundane & how easy it is to fall out of love if you don’t appreciate what you have. If you enjoyed the characters in the prequel I’m sure you will enjoy this!

Gripping- love the characters

I was unsure whether to listen to this book as there had been a number of poor reviews however I decided to listen to it straight after reading the first book. I loved it and couldn’t wait to have time to listen again.

Disappointing

The characters are unpleasant on the whole. The ending sugar sweet. By this time I cared very little about their futures. The narration was excellent but I was disappointed overall as other books by this author are much better.

Dull

Kept giving it a chance but was so dull, it never got any more exciting!

What Party?

Did not like the outcome of the wedding. Jem should have married Ralph and the story ended there.

Character's behaviour infuriating.

I really struggled listening to this book. The path chosen by the antagonists was so strange and so annoying at times.
The narrator was brilliant and the story is well thought through and delivered, but I cannot get over my frustrations in the lead characters and their decisions.

A little bit disappointing

Having loved The Party I was looking forward to see how Gem and Ralph turned out but I think this felt a bit like hearing the problems a spoilt middle class woman has with the realities of life and commitment and justifying having an affair. No explanation of how Ralph and Gem get past that issue when in truth Ralph did nothing that would justify Gems actions. Left me thinking that Gem would do it again to Ralph as soon as life got in the way of her fairytale ideas. However I was once again caught up in the book to the end and the narration was excellent.

Irritating!

loved all of lisa jewels books but this is just a constant litany of annoying winey voices and the two main characters are self pitying unlikeable bores.

Get enough of that in real life! Dont waste your money. Couldn't even face finishing it.

DEPRESSING

I really struggled to finish this book ..found my mind drifting to jobs I could do while listening which is sad as I listen to these audio books to help me relax.
The story was so drawn out and BORING the characters annoyed me ..wish I'd returned the book instead of persevering with it to the end
