Summary
On the night of 22 December 1980, a plane crashes on the Franco-Swiss border and is engulfed in flames. Out of 169 passengers, 168 are killed instantly. The miraculous sole survivor is a newborn baby.
But the identity of the child is unknown, and two families - one rich and affluent, and the other poor - step forward to claim her. So begins a private investigation that wil go on for the next 18 years....
The novel opens on the eve of the girl's 18th birthday. For years now Credule Grand-Duc has been trying to uncover the truth about the child's identity - is she Emilie or Lyse-Rose? And now it seems he has discovered a terrible secret. He plans to take his own life but not before he places his account of the investigation in the girl's hands. However someone else gets to him first....

Worst of books
This is the worst kind of audiobook: I really didn't like it because of the totally unrealistic characters but had to finish because I wanted to know the end

LOVED THE STORY DIDN'T ENJOY THE NARRATOR AT ALL
What would have made After the Crash better?
I REALLY ENJOYED THE THEME OF THIS STORY BUT COULDN'T CONTINUE
WITH THE BOOK BECAUSE THE NARRATOR REALLY IRRITATED ME.
AT TIMES I THOUGHT I WAS LISTENING TO ALLO ! ALLO !
I ONLY LISTENED TO A FEW CHAPTERS BEFORE ABANDONING THE BOOK.
I MAY HAVE TO BUY IT IN PAPERBACK.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Daniel Philpott?
I AM SURE DANIEL PHILLPOTT IS A THROUGHLY GOOD NARRATOR. HOWEVER, IN THIS INSTANCE I FOUND HIS VOICE VERY IRRITATING

wow, just wow.
Best audio book yet. It lived up to my high expectations as a result of being described as "title of the year" and boy I was not disappointed. The only issue is, what can I listen to next that will even come close to being as good as this? I'm stumped.

Terrific listen.
All I can say is that this book is fascinating with a topsy turvy story that gripped me from beginning to end. Other people have written about holes in the plot which I'm sure you can find if you perform a forensic dissection but just listen with an open mind and you'll enjoy this. Excellent.

Well read novel
Good start but felt that it really didn't pick up. The narrator had a great voice which lifted the overall book.

Utter trash but compulsive trash
Trash but a very easy listen. hate the fake French accents though. Good for car driving.
