Summary

For a decade now, the world has known of the existence of the immuno-degenerative and epidermal decomposition virus (strain two). The world governments and several civilian agencies have, so far, managed to keep the unimaginable from happening. They achieved it by keeping the outbreaks under control and preventing a global pandemic.

But even the best control measures seem to be falling short, as outbreaks become more frequent and larger in scale. Hundred percent of those infected with ImDED2 die. The problem is they don’t stay dead. The virus hijacks their bodies, turning them into insatiable, cannibalistic eating machines. Zombies.

Ryan Maxwell, a retired soldier, and his wife Victoria, a high school science teacher, have sacrificed for years to provide a good life for their family, but even the hardest working couple can run up against hard times.

However, a spur-of-the-moment purchase of a lottery ticket is about to change their lives forever. And possibly save them all.

Will the Maxwells be able to take advantage of their newfound wealth in time to form a buffer of safety between their family and friends and the possibility of a global zombie apocalypse? Is there enough money to buy safe passage in a world...after Z?

The perfect scenario for doomsday preppers

Definitely a decent book.
It's got a bit of the stomach turning gore, the mayhem and action, some very good times, some very bad times, a (fairly) believable story of zombie creation and a preppers fairytale set up.

It moves along nicely, and didnt drag anywhere so it held my interest all the way through.
Really well read too, which makes all the difference to the experience of listening

Zombie apocalypse done with style and snark!

This was a great take on the zombie apocalypse, zombies have been around a while and a lottery win that leads to a spectacular bunker/man cave, filled with the best toys! Ryan was a man with a plan, and some great one-liners that had me laughing, my favourite was "duct tape a zombie d0ggy-style to you" and "remember to let big d1ck out"! Matthew Crow was a really good narrator, I really hope theres going to be a book 2, I'll be watching for it.

Billionaire Prepper's Guide to the Zompoc

Enjoyed this book, good range of characters and a Interesting way of approaching a zombie novel. Little light on the actual Zombies but feel the next in the series will really step this up.

Garbage

One of the worst books I’ve read.
Utter nonsensical dribble, unbelievable lottery winners don’t build zombie proof bunkers .

the worst narrator I've listened to.

I got ten minutes in and had to stop. the narration is so monotonous and devoid of expression it was unbearable.

Really good and funny

Different take on zombie book, as in no mass gangs of baddies, with crazy evil leaders. Intresting take on the lottery win, which adds an angle not seen in other z books. Humour in the book is really good and realistic. For those that like gore details, there is plenty of that too.

Can not for next book

Good story but Narrator very robotic

I enjoyed the premise and story to this but i have to admit it was a struggle to listen to due to the narration it sounded very robotic and monotone it’s a shame because there are some great scenes and narrative in this book

The reader was awesome

But the rest of the book? I hate this book. I was so bored and it felt like there was some derogatory insult every other sentence. F**got was used so much I began to think the author might actually be homophobic. Sure it's a story, buuuuuuuuuuut sexuality shouldn't come into play with a zombie book unless they are getting it on with one.

Brilliant!

After Z, definitely delivered, it met my highest expectations. I knew it would be great within the first few minutes, and I wasn't wrong. It's well-written with a unique and entertaining storyline that captures the attention and engages the readers/listeners from the very start to the end. The characters are well-developed, intriguing, and absolutely awesome.

A stellar performance by Matthew Crow's; he literally brought the characters and the story to life. All and all, After Z is an excellent zombie post-apocalyptic tale, and definitely worth the listen. I strongly recommend this audiobook.

Oh Boy

This isn’t the worst zombie novel I’ve gone through, but it is definitely a close second. The characters were so cookie cutter and bland. They all seemed to be the same individual with only slight variation. That variation being their name. With some characters being former military, they seemed to have little to no tactical sense and could have easily avoided practically every problem they ran into. Unfortunately they lacked intellect.

The narrator reminded me of a suburban Dad trying to tell and exciting story that everyone knows didn’t happen, in an effort to boost his own image.

It was just awful all around.

After Z..

So I have been on Audible for a while now, found that Zombie style apocalyptic novels are my favorite. My 1st Zombie book was Mark Tufos' Zombie Fallout after that it hasn't stopped. I stumbled onto After Z by chance and let me tell you THIS book was Amazing! Has a Different start to the ZVirus than any other book that I have enjoyed. If you looking for a book that is thrilling and funny with a bit of Zombies than grab After Z.

Awesome

Starts with a lottery win to prepare a dream apocalyptic hide out of course right before the world falls to crap. Former military characters bring about a great zombie world read. Can’t wait for the next in the series.

Zombies!!!

I'm a huge fan of zombie stories. Being such, I've either read, watched or listened to literally hundreds of them over the years. I would rate this particular zombie tale as being in the top ten. Extremely entertaining!

Obvious political bias ruins an already awful book

*Major spoilers*

If the far fetched premise of a guy winning the lottery just in time to build himself a 50 million dollar bunker to keep safe from the zombies isn't off putting enough there are too many references to liberals taking away guns and homophobic humor for me to get through this book. I finally gave up on the book entirely when the main group of 8 family and friends driving two hummers and a tanker of gasoline (eyeroll) plus an arsenal of weaponry refuse to stop to help people with zombie troubles of their own as they make their way to the bunker. The main character says he doesn't give a shit about other people as long as he and his family have what they want. I don't like to support bad writing and I refuse to support this kind of self centeredness even in a poorly written work of bad fiction.

The narrator was really good.

Done

The books forward is some Pro-Trump or Anti-Trump dig.. im just done i listen to zombie fiction to get away from real world issues. Also im not sure if its the way the narrator talks or the way the characters are written..but they were so annoying I was finished after 30mins
