Summary

Lori Golden's family have had more than their fair share of troubles. But through it all, Lori and her sister, Jessie, have always supported each other. Then Jessie is killed. And Lori's world turns upside down.

Devastated, Lori struggles to cope with her loss, and to learn to live in a world without her bright, bubbly sister by her side. Around her, her already fractured family start to fall apart. Could not cope with Heather Wilds voice

The narration so bad, a one tone voice, gave it 5 minutes and had to dump.... what a waste of a credit, should get a refund, but don't know how... Heather Wild should never narrate a book ever!!!!

Awful narration.

May have been a good story but the narration is so difficult to listen that it makes the novel seem incredible.
I don't like to leave negative feedback, but in this case it has to be said. Poor narration is surely an insult to any author.

Ruined by the narration!

I persevered with this until chapter 8 because the story itself seemed good (I can't be completely certain, since I gave up at that point). Sadly, I could not listen any longer due to the horrible narration. Heather Wilds has a robotic style which she just got away with for me in a previous comedy book, but in a serious novel it's distracting in the extreme. I gave the narration two stars, rather than one, as she was accurate, never fluffled her speech and read some dialogue appropriately and well. Unfortunately, there was not enough of the latter. I think with good narration, this may have been experienced as a decent novel.

Boring

this is the most boring narration I have ever listened too. it's just too robotic as if she is reading a shopping list. I didn't even get passed the first chapter. Sorry.

Terrible narration

Although the story sounded like it would be good, I couldn’t cope with the awful narration! I listen to loads of audible books & have never had to give up on a book due to the narrator. Really disappointing.

Awful narration !

Excellent story but dreadful narration. It just drones and is incredibly irritating. Hope this reader hasn’t narrated other books by the same author.

After She's Gone

I've given this audiobook a grudged two stars not because I disliked the book but because the narration was SO BAD. The story was excellent, full of suspense right up to the end and all in all a good read. The narration, however, was dreadful, so much so, that I really had to MAKE myself stick with it. I would encourage readers to READ the book but NOT to listen to it!

Terrible narrator!

I have listened to quite a lot of audio books, I definitely have heard some excellent narrators and some not so good but this is the first book that I haven't been able to get past the first chapter before having to give up and turn it off because the narrator was sooo bad! Such a disappointment!

Don't waste your time

Would you try another book from Maggie James and/or Heather Wilds?

No

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not sure

What didn’t you like about Heather Wilds’s performance?

Completely monotone, she sounded like she was reading from a sheet of paper. I had to fast forward thru several chapters as I couldn't stand it.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from After She's Gone?

Not sure

Any additional comments?

I thought the writing was simplistic, I knew who was guilty after the first few chapters, but kept going in hopes the book would get better.

meh

storyline was "ok". I wouldn't pass it up because it was fairly entertaining. Worth a free credit but not worth too much $$.
