About this listen

Explore the rise of Adolf Hitler.

Was Hitler, as Ian Kershaw asked, a natural consequence of German history, or an aberration? Not that Hitler had been in hiding, waiting to attack. The Führer had actually been following an aggressive and savage foreign policy for almost 10 years, and been named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1938.

This is not an audiobook about World War II, but about the man, Adolf Hitler, one of the faces and names that still arouse the strongest feelings - repulsion, resentment, and even fanaticism - but one who also had a childhood and a youth, a father and a mother. It is the road to madness - beginning that day in August of 1934 when he took over absolute power and ordered allegiance and loyalty to him alone - that this book is about.

Some of the topics covered in this audiobook include:

  • Hitler's origins
  • His inception
  • The anti-Semitic capital of Europe
  • Munich
  • First World War
  • Hitler's ascension
  • Mein Kampf
  • His downfall
  • The remains of Adolf Hitler
  • And a great deal more that you don't want to miss out on!

Duke Holm does a exemplary job of telling the life and times of Adolf Hitler. This book contains deep, detailed description of all events in his life from the day he was born until the day he committed suicide. This book is not intended for those who want a brief synopsis of Hitler, as many parts of the book are very detailed. For those, however, who are eager to expand their knowledge of early 20th century Germany, they need look no further than this book.

Amazing!

I had read so many Holocaust memoirs, and I wanted to learn more of the history of the monster who created the deaths of so many innocent victims. I am glad that I read the biography of Hitler, as it just confirms what a sick person he was, and he is keeping the fires burning in HELL.

Great information.

Finally a Hitler biography which paves the road to understanding the tragedy of World War II. It is beautifully written and easy to read. Full of insight, personal recollections of those who knew him best, and much previously concealed personal information. For anyone interested in the how and why of Nazi Germany and its devastating results, this is an absolute MUST!

A must have audio book.

This has to be the best book I've ever listened to, and it was well worth it. I now know that I have a better knowledge about Hitler than I did previous to reading this biography. Reading it took quite some time, but it's packed with information about Hitler that I didn't know about beforehand. One of the best books I've ever had.

Best!

One of the best biographies I've ever read. Tries to look at one of the most reviled men in history in an objective manner, without downplaying the crimes he perpetrated. Looks at Hitler as a man, however flawed (though that's an understatement) without making him into some cartoon supervillain.

This is one of the best for me.
