About this listen

When an alien spacecraft crashes near a university, two average student-athletes, Bill and Greg, survive a freak accident—only to discover that their bodies now host nanites designed for healing. Instead, the nanites elevate their intelligence, accelerate their recovery abilities, and make them targets in a global game of power, surveillance, and secrets.

Determined to use their abilities for good, they begin developing world-changing technologies: clean energy systems, self-sustaining infrastructure, and tools designed to empower the forgotten corners of the world. But as their influence grows, so does the threat from a rogue government faction intent on seizing control of their work.

By their side is Maria, a gifted scientist who joined the mission early on. Fiercely intelligent and cautious, she finds herself drawn to Greg—but afraid of what his transformation means for their future. Her journey becomes one of wrestling with fear, trust, and the kind of love that demands vulnerability.

Sophie, fiercely focused on her academic future, finds herself torn. Bill’s wit, kindness, and strength draw her in. However, she worries that a relationship with him could derail her carefully laid plans and pull her away from everything she’s been working toward. So, she holds back—trying to protect her future, even as her heart wavers. Meanwhile, Bill's connection with his striking and sharp-witted co-worker Claudia begins to deepen.

At its core, this story tackles not just alien nanotech and global conspiracies—but the deeper questions of faith, forgiveness, redemption, and what love really looks like when it’s messy, sacrificial, and undeserved.

I bought this book because I liked the premise and indeed it started off really well. Two teenagers injected with advanced nanites from visiting aliens. It sounded like everything I wanted. The narrator was really good and I was enjoying it....... Then the religion started, constant references to church and forgiveness and by the end it just took over the book. Each to their own with religion but I would never had bought this if i would have known all the author wanted to do was preach!

Religion spoils a good science fiction book.
